Default WE MO TEC 620

Howdy

I need to know what motor to use with the WeMoTec 620 EDF unit. Fan is 85mm diam.

I'd like to use no more than 4S LiPo (6ah) , and I have a Phoenix 80 esc. This combo with a Hacker B 50 8L drew 110 amps . Temptation was to get a larger speed controller (the thrust was awesome), but I knew the motor was not rated for such abuse.
The aircraft is a scratch-built F-104 about the size of Stumaxx's, and weighed 3.5 lbs and cruised around 160mph on theKressfan/K&B.21 . The WeMoTec unit dropped right in like I had built the plane around it, so I'm really anxious to get it up again. Anybody have any idea what motor to use?

Hello Jaffray,

Unfortunately 4S is not going to do it as you found yourself. The HW-620 and HW-609 are trimmed down Midi Fan rotor's and stator assemblies with a carbon fiber housing attached so the loading is very similar and so are the power setups. Here is a couple of motor combos in the 900 to 1200+ Watts

Hacker B50-15L (6S - 7S) , B50-11XL (7S - 8S+)
Mega 22/30/2 (6S - 7S), Mega 22/30/3 (7S - 8S+)

Jaffray,

The Wemotec 620 is a cut back version of the Midifan with a higher eflux. Like most midi sized fans, it requires a 500 sized motor as you noted and when you get into these sized setups, you are going to have to use a 5S or 6S minimum to get good, usable power. A B50-13L or 15L would be a better choice and keep you in a good power range without going overcurrent on the motor.

Mega 22/30/2 !!! Wow!!! Even with 4cells, I'm in the game. I think a 5 cell 4A will do the trick.

Thanks for the tip!!!
