HT-Modellbau Mirage 2000B - a hot toy!
Well, I saw it the first time at the Grenchen electric jet meeting 2007, it needed only a few seconds to fall in love with it - and again seconds later I knew that I MUST have this plane. Well, it became an expensive weekend for me, but who cares...!
The plane is the Mirage 2000B / N from HT Modellbau ( see www.jetarrows.com or www.ht-modellbau.ch). It is a full fibreglass design, sized for a 90mm electric ducted fan unit, available in two versions: one without retracts and one for the small Jet A1 pneumatic retracts, all spars and openigs needed for that already done (which is the one I decedid to "build" ). At the meeting I saw two of them flying, one was the version without retracts, powered by about 1,9kW; well, that was like turbine flying! The other one was a prototype, fitted with retracts and a little less power, but it still was a rocket in the sky!
Until now, on my model I reinforced the intake ducts using some carbon fibre (otherwise the ducts will collapse at full throttle standing on the runway) and fitted them into their position. And I added the small winglets over the intakes. The whole thing seems to be only a little work until it will fly, the only big question that appears is the one of the colour scheme... - I will be posting again soon!
Best regards
Chris

Hi frank40,
according to the building instructions, the total weight will be about 2600g, not bad for a plane of this size. The mounting of the fan unit is very simple - just put it on the back of the intakes. On my model, I would first like to use quite an old Wemotec Midifan I got from a friend (becuase it is my first real EDF Jet after an Alfa F-86), powered by I guess a Neu motor and a 6s LiPo, maybe something about 3700 or 4200 mAh like e.g. the LiteStorm LVX 3700 6s1p or LVX 4350 6s1p. Maybe, if the fan will quit work with that lot of power, I will finally change to a Schübeler DS-51. Usually I get all the e-flight stuff at www.eflight.ch .
Although it will be totally cramped in there, the components fit quite well into the model - have a look at the pics so far!

RE: HT-Modellbau Mirage 2000B - a hot toy!
not really... I am locked because I am waiting for the Jet A1 pneumatic retracts, so there's not really a lot more to do. I am also waiting a little with the order of the motor, controler and battery, because I would like to combine it with the order for the servos and receiver, and I am still not sure what equipment I would like to install. But I think it will not take too much time!

Well, I said it is a hot toy!
But there's a point more to think about - the colour scheme... I do not want to have the normal dark/light blue fo the French Air force, I prefer a special paint scheme like e.g. the NATO TIGER Mirage or the Vendée-Mirage... or are there any better ideas?
best regards
Chris

I am considering buying the Jet Arrow Mirage but want to use the Stumax fan which is 110mm. How much room is there for the fan? Do you think 110mm would fit?
Thanks, John
Thanks, John

RE: HT-Modellbau Mirage 2000B - a hot toy!
Hello,
I am a new in this forum and saw the issue, I would like to ask . I intend to acquire the Mirage from "jetarrows" in EDF version, and I am thinking about what equipment (Elevon servo) will be need put in Jet. The manufacturer says in the manual to the wings used the "Futaba S-3150 Digital servo" (seems a bit obsolete).I thought as an alternative to used eg "Hyperion Atlas DS095 - FMD digital wing" or "Hitec HS-5125MG Digital Wing" and similar. Because you have practical experience with this Jet, what is your opinion for it, what servo (torque) you recomended to use for thi Jet ?.
thanks Sampson

Thanks for reply , because you're owner of HT-Mirage 2000B (in picture seems a nice model) like to ask you .What exactly is size of the space for wind servo (WxHxD)?, to I can see and imagine, what are the possibility to install a diferent servo. And one more question, do not I can understand what is the difference between HS-5125 and HS-125. Dimensions and Torque both kinds have the same, I see they differ is only in price.

Hello Sampson,
I can not measure the sevo pocket right now as I have the covers tack glued in place and they don't remove easily. The pockets are EXACTLY the dimensions of the HS-125 type servo.
Only difference between the Hs-125 and Hs-5125 is that the 125 is analog and 5125 is digital. They both perform the same.

Hi Maik,
Thanks for reply, will think what ultimately choose. I had a dilemma because I ordered and decided buy the DSR2-46T Digital Servoless retract(http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...dProduct=10387), this retract works with 6 - 7.3 V, and Futaba is not recomended this voltage for S3150. It be necessary , the retract to connected (adapted) straight from the LiPo, and the entire rest of the system to work with standard UBEC 5 V, we'll see.
