RE: Phase 3 EF - 16
The stock Mylar rear ducting is flimsy, dents and creases easy. This can effect overall efficiency and thrust. I went with a slightly thicker grade. I bought mine at FedEx-Kinkos (Clear but can come in an assortment of colors) however, it can be purchased at craft shops and drafting shops. I hope you did not throw away the old tube as it can be used as a template for the shape and the tapered end diameter. I used clear thin postal tape to close the seam.

thanks! The included one helped get my edges straight. I ended up using a divider sheet for a binder! Its red too which might look cool out the rear end!!
I am getting close!! Can't wait!

its the easiest to fly EDF I have flown. Its very stable.. 1 inch 25% expo. Get CG right and it flies great. We have had 7 up at same time ratting around, so put a distinctive mark on it so you can fly with buddies because as soon as you fly yours, they will get one too.

Unfortunately, I do most my flying alone these days. Just moved, and haven't met new people yet.
I actually have never flown at a club or field!
But have found an electric only field, but I heard they dont like EDF's because of the noise! thats lame! but understandable.

Guys,
Help needed, how far do you guys pushed your taileron rods through the taileron supports? as far as they touch the fuse or all the way in to the fusealage, so that you dont have lot of gap between taileron and the taileron support.
Please advise.

Push them so the brass eyelets in the elevators touch the brass bushings in the fuselage. The axle rods are a little long so they will probably touch or almost touch the molded foam tailcone. That shouldn't be an issue unless it pokes inside but if it does you can relieve the foam or grind down the rod some.

Here in my hands is a Water-based Polycrylic Spray made by MinWax!
Got it from HomeDepot today! Instead of brushing it on with a foam brush, you can SPRAY it on!
I got the Clear Semigloss, but they have it in Clear Satin & Gloss.
It is expensive....nearly $11 per 11.5oz can
I'll report how it goes. If it works, foam stiffening & painting will never be the same

RE: Phase 3 EF - 16
Just finished my 2nd F-16 with a Shulman Fury 64. Drawing approx. 700 watts/45amps on a 4S. Pretty simple modification minus some minor CG issues. Regardless, a pretty solid upgrade for $200 bucks. I would recommend to anyone looking for a quick upgrade for the F-16. I hope to get some video this weekend now that I got the CG and trim in check. Significant difference over stock and a blast to fly.

RE: Phase 3 EF - 16
SUCCESS!!!!!
I got my first f16 in the air! I re-inforced the tail section which cause some clearance issues with the control rods, dues to a sloppy glue joint on my part.
But it flew out of my hand at full throttle and with a good toss she was soaring away from me. Got some altitude and brought her around, few clicks of trim and ZOOOM! wow I have a rocket on my hands! I set my timer for 4 minutes and was shaking much before the beeping began!!! First landing attempt, cut throttle at half field, soared nice with no throttle, getting closer, holy shat it is still going about 60km! pull up and try again. this time I cut the throttle on my descent from the turn at the far end of the field, and it seemed slower, still coming in reall fast but I had to put it down and it dug into the field like a lawn dart!! only damage was the canopy popping off , probably from the battery!
Was able to fly with half throttle with no real issue and balance is fine with my 3s 3600mah. using a Haoye 64mm 7blade EDF from HK and a turnigy 3900kv brushless motor. Speed controller came with my first EDF which I did not use and was rated at 45A in the ad but no markings on ESC at all.
Long post short. I am very happy with this EDF from Phase 3, and Impressed with the performance, thus far!
I'll upload a pic or two of the fan and tube I made from a binder divider sheet.

I have a motor and fan from a HET Super sniper... Typhoon EDF 2W and I believe a wemo 6904 fan....
Is anyone having success with this combination? Will it fly with authority??? Also what speed controller will work for this motor/fan combo??
Any help, or suggestions will be welcome.

Yes, the HET 6904 should be PERFECT for this bird, and that motor. I will be using those on my next build. From what I have read/heard, that fan is very good, and should make this ballistic with proper batteries

RE: Phase 3 EF - 16
Great! I am stoked to get the project going....
Still have to get a speed controller.... 50 or 60 amp????
and 11.1 3s, 20 or 30C?? I have TP 2100's but only in 12C and dont think they will work....(at least more than once... LOL)
Still trying to decide to go with vinyl or silk and poly.... vinyl looks good and quick.... just worried about the extra weight....

RE: Phase 3 EF - 16
Im thinking of picking up the f16 kit. I would like to go 130 MPH and by the way did i say i was new to EDF jets? I would like to keep the cost down as much as possiable so i think hobby king would be my first stop. Can anyone give some links to fans and motors that will work with this jet? I would really like to get everything from hobby city. And what size speed controller?

Blkz2801 , You can use almost any 70 mm fan. I used a Wemotec mini fan in one I built, it was glassed and pushing 1600 watts, but we found that the vasa fan from e-flite with a stock e-flite BL 15 works well with a 40-60 amp esc on 3-4 cells. you can expect 90-115 mph. I use thunder Power Pro-power 45c batts. , mainly because my T-rex450 needs the 45c rating and I keep plenty of them around. Plus i can charge them at 3c and not even push them...

Hobby People $130.00 w/ fan, motor, esc. DONE! Shell alone: $40.00. MAYBE! If I see potential.
The hop-up potential I've seen in this thread is "there", and I've done enough looking to be at a standstill.....
Seems a bird with a loyal following.
If you had your druthers of choice, how would you outfit one?
Motor, for output as well as quality/durability:
ESC:
Battery pref.:
Servos:
Any tweek you feel is beneficial:
Thanks,
Sakai

RE: Phase 3 EF - 16
I just upgraded my fan and rebuilt my f-16 recently.
I am now using a "high speed" 70mm 3-blade pusher EDF, and a 4900kv motor on 3s, very high current around 90A at full throttle, but very fast too! smooth as well, just try not to warp the casing on installation. With all EDF's I have used, a break in is a good idea once installed. 4s is needed with different motor, and maybe a better option, I didnt want to get all new batteries, which I had to anyway!!!

I JUST got the batteries last week, so will be trying them out very soon, maybe try for a video! Currently using the ESC that came with my old TREX500 (Align 60A)
