Great Planes F-86 Sabre
Well I broke down and bought the Great Planes F-86 Sabre Friday - little to no work needs to be done to this jet!
Charged the battery and ready to fly after adding some expo to the programming - funny part I found out was that my old Tactics 402 4 channel radio that worked for my Flyzone
Albatross and Fokker DR1 works for this plane as well except that elevator controls are backwards. everything else worked fine.
For since a small jet it's very detailed and I can't wait o get it up in the air for a test flight - been way too cold outside around 10-15 degree and snow.. so no flying until this crap melts off and we hit the 30's or 40's!!
More later.

RE: Great Planes F-86 Sabre
good fresh snow could be a help with the first few hand launches.
launch it full throttle and not upwards at all. flat to slight nose down. build speed before adding much control of any kind. don't get nose high at slow speed close to the ground, that under cambered wing will stall tips first and put you into the "sabre dance".

RE: Great Planes F-86 Sabre
Thanks for the advice - went to Parkflyers plastics website and found a nose protector for the F-86
http://parkflyerplastics.com/cart/in...roducts_id=663
ordered it - also comes with wing tips and tail (or maybe just the tail) to give it more support.
I will wait til I get those in before flying - the weather this week has been craptacular lately in Ohio..

RE: Great Planes F-86 Sabre
Oh now I understand the Sabre dance... it goes up and loops back down to earth...
I tried 3 times before I got it right.. and man will this little jet go and it's edgy as hell!
by far the quickest turning aircraft I own and when it came time to land it was very easy to bring it down to the ground!
The next outing I crashed 3 times and never got it back in the air - had to fix the damage but it's ready with the extra protection in place to the nose and tail (stiffens the tail 50% more which is good) so I ho go out today or this weekend to fly it one more time. I will take your advice and try level flat throw and hope it launches right, if not the lander gear go on and this baby will roll to a take off.

OK this little jet needs weight added to the nose to keep it from pitching up and looping back down to earth..
so wish me luck later this week when the weather breaks - will fly again shortly
