Kyosho F-16 vs Phase 3 F-16
Looking to buy my first EDF.
The Kyosho model has the better looks but is a bit small with limited battery space.
The Phase 3 model could be painted and made to look more scale. Phase 3 model is larger and takes a larger lipo.
Been flying ic for a long time but would like an easy clean electric model to add to the hanger.
Any ideas as to the pro's and con's of each model would be helpful.
Thanks guys.

For me the Kyosho was the best choice looks awesome and comes with servos installed so it was in the air real quick.
use thunder power 1320 or flightpower 1200.
sure is a head turner.

Cheers mate.
Moved on to a new project at the minute. VMAR SU-27, but will pick up an ef-16 at some point soon.

Phase 3 was pretty easy to setup. Have your battery handy though because you need it to setup the motor prior to gluing the plane together to ensure the motor turns correctly.
I painted mine up and will most likely do some detail work now that its painted.
I use the TP extreme V2 2200 3S packs. Plenty of power. I ran a 4-cell for about 1 min and the plane rocked! But I'm afraid it will burn up the ESC or motor with continued use.
I don't like the elevator setup, it appears flimsy but it does work (I've got about 10 flights so far) You need to re-enforce where the stab connects as its a weak point on the model. Its easy to do with some carbon strips or aircraft ply. Just place it on the top and bottom or along the side where the stab plugs in. Keeps the tabs from breaking (it is only styrofoam).
I got mine when HL was having the $99 sale.......using Hitec 65's on it

Phase 3 is probablly one of the best if not THE best flying Foamy EDF out there. Way better performance and price then Kyosho, plus it is quite a bit larger. There is a good thread in the Foamy EDF forum on upgrades. Mine is glassed with a 1250w power system and is well into the Mid 100 mph range

Cool guys i shall definately go for the Phase3.
Think i might dress mine up in Isreali colours. Only decent paint scheme i can think of on an F-16.
Saying that i like Sweatpea's paint scheme. Nice!

I have several flights on mine now (Phase 3) and love it. All stock equipment. I lined the battery compartment with 1/32 ply and added same to the top and bottom of the stabilator pivot area, with some extra glue on the bushings. I also ran carbon fiber rod down through the vertical stab. My fan is mounted at the rearmost position. I used 27oz servos and fly it on high rates after launch. Not mushy at all in high G pulls.

RE: Kyosho F-16 vs Phase 3 F-16
Phase3 F-16 ordered. Should be here tomorrow.
I’m going with HS55 servos and Loong max 2250 3S1P 25C-35C Lipo Battery.
Receiver will be a futaba 2.4
Can anybody advise me as to weather or not these batteries are suitable as I only fly ic.
Don’t know the first thing about edf models or setups.
Will probably paint it in either tigermeet or US aggressor colours.
Regards
Andrew.
