Default Help with motor selection for minifan 480

I am looking for motor for my wemotec 480 mini fan 69mm
400 + watts out would be nice
I am using 3S lipos and want to stay with 3S
The Mega 16/15/2 has all the right numbers 4600 kv but the max amps are low 35 A.
So is the 16/15/2 not a suitable motor for 400 + watts on 3S ?
Am I correct in assuming pushing the motor to 40 A to get over 400 + watts
will burn it out ?
Thanks in advance

Default RE: Help with motor selection for minifan 480

I have two MF480's running on 3S lipo's. One uses a MEGA 16/15/2 and the other uses an HET 2W. Both motors are 2 wind with similar Kv's. Typical full throttle currents are about 42~45 amps, about 450~480 watts, depending on the LiPo used. My choice of packs for these is a 3Sx4400 Thunder Power Extreme. Both motors are drop-ins to the MF480 fan. I'd opt for the HET2W as its $50, delivered.

I have many, many flights on each of these planes. From what I can discern, neither of these motors is showing any signs of wear or tear and I fully expect them to last for hundreds of flights.

I also have two other MF480's running HET3W motors on 4S Lipo's. On 4S, the HET3W draws about 32 amps. If it were me, I'd stay with the 2 wind on 3S
