Kyosho Jet Vision *Sweeping Wing*
Well I stayed up all night Tuesday to build mine, and I flew it this morning just before work. It is nice to have a flying field on the way to work....LOL
Anyhow, the equipment I used is as follows:
TX/RX: Spectrum DX7 w/ AR6100 micro receiver
ESC: Team Orion Avionics Captain 25 esc
Servos: 2x HiTec HS55 and 1x JR 341 for wing animation
Battery: Team Orion Avionics 740mah 3s 1p 15c
I just flew the Vision this morning. The weather was overcast with no wind or thermal activity, basically calm.
On launch, I had the wings extended, and I tossed the Vision out straight and level, (unlike some of you see me do with the F-16 or the Illusion, 45 degree angle.) I waited about 50 feet before I gave any input to the airplane, and it was off. When I launched it, I jogged 4 steps to make sure it got a good launch. This airplane is a little heavier than the Illusion, so I wanted to make sure it had a good launch.
I flew around with the wings out for half the battery pack, the airplane flew nice and straight after a few clicks of right aileron. I could put the Jet Vision nice and low right over the runway, and let go of the sticks, and it would fly nice and straight.....After getting a good feeling of what the airplane would do with the wings extended, I contracted the wings. Right away I noticed a difference in performance. Everything reacted quicker. I flew with low rates on, which moved the control surfaces 7mm up and down. This setting is the stock setting posted in the instruction manual. I programmed my high rates to move the control surface 15mm, which is as far as the control surface will travel.
Landing is a lot easier than the Illusion. I set up my approach, extended the wings, and cut the throttle. As I got lower and closer to the runway, I noticed this airplane floats like a glider, which does make landing easy.
I hope to get another flight Sunday.

The wings are animated using a servo. The wings move very smoothly. I have video currently, but I am having trouble converting it from DVD to AVI or MPEG so I can upload it to you tube.
I will post some images here soon.

I am a slow builder, so you don't want to know how long it took me. Most people it should take about 2~4 hours to assemble.

here is a short basic video. This was my first flight with the Vision, so only basic manovers were performed.

Gearhead - Can you share which 3M product that is? I typically fly from asphalt and am considering between installing a landing gear (weight!) or another solution. Thanks!

How long is the flight time on that small battery? I had the other Kyosho little jet (the Mirage I think) and I was running a 3S 1320 = is that battery gonna be too big to fly in the swept wing?
Thanks
Thanks

Hi, during initial transmitter programming and test run-ups, the fan hub spun off of the motor spindle. To prevent this from happening again, I was wondering if I should add a drop of CA. I know that it would make future repairs difficult. What do you guys recommend? Thx. Dirk

If the fan is rotating the correct way, it should not spin off. If you use a little CA, don't expect to get the fan off again....LOL
