RE: Blitz RC F 18, RTF w retracts
I just bought one of the Jolly Rogers F/18 from the AMA show, and I must say I was really impressed when I opened the box. The plane went together without fast and seemed to be perfect. When I installed the retracts is when the headaches started. The main gears would not retract into the openings very well, so I bent the gear in a bit so that the retracts would fully retract. The included retracts servos seem to be powerful enough, except for the fact they are plastic geared. The gears strip out really easy and it would have been a lot better if they used metal gears. Another concern was how well the landing gear mounts were glued in. I found two loose ones and decided to rip them out and glue them in with epoxy. I was also having problems with the nose wheel steering. There was tons of slop in the steering and the servo seemed to weak to steer the nose affectively. So if anyone has purchased this model, upgrade is in order to get the retracts to function like they should. Overall, this thing rips. It is fast and fun to fly.

I also got mine at the AMA Expo and having issues with the retracts and modifying the gear to make them retract. I have changed out the retract servos as all three would not work at all out of the box. I still have not flown yet. Hope for the weather to change to get it out.

I too got mine from the convention. My wife wasn't thrilled, but it was just so gorgeous.
After overcomming several problems I flew mine today. There was a strong headwind and adding to that a short runway intended for much smaller planes made landing tough. This thing is fast and powerful, several times I had to go near vertical at full throttle and she handled it well. I trashed the landing gear when I landed, but it should be easy to fix. They popped out of the foam body. I have two other posts in other forums here's the url.

It's really nice to see her fly after so much frustration and work.

I Bought The Arf Kit, With A Bird That Big I Couldn't Risk Getting A Bad Servo After A Few Flight. I Have HS65 Everywhere There's A Servo Needed, Changed Out The Elavator Push Rods Also. Too Much Flexxing In Them. Stock Retracts, Now On This Motor Typhoon 600-42. I Have Never Used One Looking For Some Who Has And Will It Proform On A 5 Cell 20-30c 3300 Zippy.
