Cool with me...hope you can get your hands on one one way or another. It is a really cool plane...especially because it is so large yet light.

Here is a link to video of my Sabre in action. Curtis shot it (we are both local) so he can use it on his website. I put two flights on it Saturday, and am still very impressed with how it flies. Enjoy!

Hello gents,
I just found the place to purchase these jets. www.Hero-Models.com sells these and other get products. You can avoid the middleman. Can't beat that.

I clicked on your HERO link, searched through 10 pages of crap and the only thing I found R/C related was GROUPNER models from. Germany.

Sessholvlaru,
Great video. Looks like a keeper. It sounds like you bought just the airframe and fan; no servos, motor, ESC? I'm leaning toward the X-29 for something a bit different. Did it take all standard sized servos? Is your motor an inrunner or out? I assume you'd recommend EasyTiger and Hero Models? Thanks for any input.

I got the airframe and fan. The F-86 takes 5 mini servos (not micro), and I used Hitec HS-225's and one micro for the nose gear. The motor I currently have in it is a Feigao 540XL inrunner putting out 1,500 watts, but you can put an outrunner in it with some modification to the fan for the motor wires. I got my 80 amp ESC and batts from HobbyCity for a steal. I believe the X-29 uses micros for the elevons and elevators, but I am not certain. I saw it at WRAM and that is what I remember about it. Easy Tiger deals with Scorpion motors, which I have heard good things about, but have no personal experience with yet. Best of luck!

I just ordered the X-29 from Curtis; everything but the retracts. Should be here mid next week. I'll start a build thread on it.
Thanks,

Seems like most of the vids I see are grass runways I haven't flown off grass in years and don't miss it ,,,, that f86 had not much left to get airborn but once it did looked pretty good in the air.

I don`t know what you are talking about , that F 86 was moving..How much faster do you want to go ? Mk 2 ?
Any way how is the Feigao motor and Tiger fan . Reason why I ask is because I have the fan coming from Tiger to put in a CMpro Red Arrow Hawk, and would like to use the Feigao in runner motor on 6s. Your video is the firs I have seen with the Tiger fan and I like the power it is putting out with the Feigao.
Please I would your in put on the set up from your experience so far. also brand of batteries and ESc. Also which 540 XL did you use, 407, 408, 409 , 412 or 406
I`m in NJ also maybe one weekend I come out to see you fly.
BTW the CMpro Hawk is for a 40 size DF set up. Some guys stuff 90s and turbines in them. But it is a true 40 size jet.
Thanks.

Hey. Whatever you do, do not buy the Feigao for this application. It ran well for 4 flights. On the 5th, the motor got so hot that it de-magnetized and the plane was lost because of the motor. I guess these motors are good for other uses where they get better airflow and/or have a heat sink on them. I got another F-86, this time powered with the 1,900kV Scorpion outrunner from Easy Tiger. Don't know the exact model as it is mounted in the fan. Performance is about the same/a shade better with the Scorpion. It is an outrunner, so you would need to slightly modify the fan unit for the wires as they come out of the front of the can. Not a big deal. I reviewed the plane in the June 2009 issue of Flying Models if you are curious. I am running a Turnigy Plush 80 amp ESC and two Rhino 3S 3,700 mah packs, all bought from hobbycity. Great stuff at a great price. I have had no issues with the fan. A solid unit. I fly at Hackensack Valley Flyers in Moonachie, and could bring it down one weekend if you would like. -Chris

Wow sorry to hear about the lost, that sucks big time. Ok good thing I did not get that motor today. Went by BP today to pick up a speed controller and was going to buy the motor but was not sure which one to get. So are you saying the motor would not fit with cooling fins in the fan or you just just choose not to use fins.
How do I get to your field ,I am in East Orange.

There simply is no room. The outer case was about 1/16th of an inch from the inside of the fan. I read up on the motor on RCU and many people claimed that the Feigaos run hot. In this application, the lack of cooling air and high amp draw (I believe it was around 60 to 70 amps with the 6 cells) was just too much for it. The Scorpion seems to handle the load much better, and does not get nearly as hot. Easy Tiger wants $79 for this motor. I see the Feigao is $75.50 from BP. I don't recall which model Feigao 540XL I had. I have what is left of the motor at work and will check tomorrow. Either way, the fact that they run hot isn't good considering the motors in these ducted fan jets are often turning high rpm's for long periods. My field is located at the end of Moonachie Road in Moonachie, past Teterboro Airport. You can't miss it. -Chris

We have around 100 members (the club has been there over 30 years). On a nice weekend there are usually 20 or so fliers out. www.hvfrc.org

Ok. Well here is my cell: (973)432-6817. I usually don't bring the jet, as I fly 3D more often. Give me a buzz weather permitting so I know to bring it. -Chris

Happy with purchase/curtis? I've been researching (and made a purchase from curtis) and not happy with ETM. Slow delivery and poor customer service.
