Sapac Jas-39 with ARC 28-58-1 motor 2000 watts
I started my Sapac Gripen Jas-39 this week I got from http://chuckshobbies.com/. Going with the stock fan and ARC 28-58-1 motor. Sky Wing 150 amp ESC, 3 amp UBEC and 2-3s 25C 5000 packs running as a 6s set up. Glassing it with 1/2 oz cloth and WBPU also going with X-Flight's electric retracts. Also will paint just don't know what scheme I want to do yet. I will be getting the new electric retracts from X-Flight they are only $65.00 here's the link for them. http://www.x-flight.com.hk/index.php...6&new=&lang=en Well, Got my new electric retracts from X-Flight in 4 days from Hong Kong. They look real good and should hold up just fine. I drilled out the stock landing gear struts to fit the retracts. I was only gonna glass a few parts of the jet but while I was glassing the other parts I got carried away and glassed both wings. The retracts also Include fittings to rotate the struts 90 degrees when retracted. I think I am gonna have them rotate when going up. This way I don't have to put as deep holes in the jet as the regular style retracts. Well, Here are the pic's of what I got done so far. I put on all control surfaces and pined them. Hope to get a bit more done today. Here is a link to my YouTube video of the X-Flight electric retracts.

Well, Got some more done on the Jas-39. One wing and nose electric retract are mounted. Just have to add the steering servo to the nose gear and a few screws. I'm gonna make up my own 3-plug wire for the retracts. I change my mind and started to glass the whole jet because of the cutting of the holes for the retracts in the wings. Got one side of the fuse glassed last night. So all I got is the other side and it will be all glassed. Here are a few pic's of the retracts mounted. There is also a link to the video of them working with the mains rotating 90 degrees when retracted.

Looks like a great project. Look forward to seeing what it looks like all done.
That is a ton of power you're dealing with in a foam aircraft...I run the same motor on 5s and it screams.
Make sure your airframe is strong enough to withstand the speed and thrust....forces rise exponentially as speed increases.
Let us know how those retracts work out.
Best of luck!

Well, The hard part of the jet is done. The X-Flight retracts are all mounted and working great. I used the stock steering arm hook up that came with the retracts for the nose gear. When you look at the video it looks like the nose retract is rotating because I did not have the steering servo hooked up. The servo keeps the nose wheel from turning when it's hook up. I have the rudder servo mounted, the fan and cut out some foam for the battery's to fit. I hope to have it done in a day or two. This weekend it's gonna go in the upper 40's here so I should be able to get it painted. I know I'm gonna love this jet. Got a full boat going on here as I am also working on a twin 70mm HET F-4 Phantom a buddy gave me.

Well, It's all done now. Saturday will be her maiden flight. Here's all that was done to her. All glassed in 1/2 oz cloth with water based Poly-U, 3 on each wing 4 inch C/F rods, X-flight electric retracts and EJF afterburner light kit. The power system is the stock 70 mm Sapac fan, ARC 28-58-1 motor, 200 amp Skywing ESC, Hitec and Cirrus servo's and 6 amp UBEC. I will be running 2-3s 3600 35C packs in series pushing out 1850 watts at 79 amps. I should hit over 2000 watts when my 4000 45C packs come in. I airbrushed it in Createx airbrush water based paint and used white, blue and Auto-Air metallic gold paint. The decals are the stock Sapac ones. After it was all painted I put 2-coats of clear water based Poly-U on it. The pilot is from Toy-R-Us not bad for 2.99 and I had to add a cut doun 10 oz solo cup as a tail cone because the afterburner light ring had to be mounted to the outside of the stock tail. The bombs and missles are held on by mangnets so they can come off or be keep on when flying.
