RE: A10 Warthog IMAA legal size from Wowplanes
GETSTENCILS.COM is now offering hi-quality scale decals and paint stencils for my A10. You can buy the stock set or have them do a custom set for you.
The decals are high quailty dry tranfers that don't leave a glossy surface or a tape substrate behind. The paint stencils are used for spray painting the more complex graphic, just like the scale masters do.
Contact them directly via their website and ask for the Wowplanes A10 set.

RE: A10 Warthog IMAA legal size from Wowplanes
I was at the Ocala Big Bird fly in couple of weekends ago with the A10
Someone sent me pictures and another made a video and have posted it on U-Tube. Hope you enjoy.
PS: I think I need to add weapons to jazz it up some more, agree?

RE: A10 Warthog IMAA legal size from Wowplanes
I built the weapons pylons this afternoon. The pylons can be permanently glued to the wings for simplicity of construction, but I thought it would be better for transportation to make them removable. I lug my models from event to event so this suits me better even though it is a little more complex to build.
Next step is to LS them, then prime & paint.

I liquid sheeted the pylons, primed and painted them the same color as the underside of the wing and hung the weapons. Took some pictures on the ground, and the hog looks ready for a mission. I will take some in-flight pictures at the next opportunity, and they should look good.

Nice building project.
For sure is not a begginers build.
Looking for a a-10 project, and your foam+balsa seems really interesting. My main iterest for a a-10 for using two 70 mm fans. No kits on the market and the few ones are composite two small or to expensive. Don´t now where you are since could not enter your webpage.
Is it more time consumintg than a traditional balsa build?
This type of build saves wheigth to a traditional balsa build?
Tried to enter your web page and seems to have problems.
Does your liquid covering work with fiber glass cloth as PU paints used in covering foam planes. (check Jepe.org)
Thought foam planes were in the category of toys but there is a clear trend toward this type of building and probably think is the way to go to compete with the gobalization of the markets.
Considering a foam build after finishing my pending projects.

RE: A10 Warthog IMAA legal size from Wowplanes
Hello Juan,
Here are the answers to your questions.
Q: Nice building project. For sure is not a begginers build.
A: Not for bigginers, but also does not require an expert builder.
Q: Is it more time consumintg than a traditional balsa build?
A: It is way less time consuming than balsa. There are only 14 pieces to the kit.
Q: This type of build saves wheigth to a traditional balsa build?
A: Yes. It is almost half the weight.
Q: Tried to enter your web page and seems to have problems.
A: Sorry, our ISP was having problems. Now it is working fine. http://www.wowplanes.com
Q: Does your liquid covering work with fiber glass cloth as PU paints used in covering foam planes.
A: With our Liquid Sheet covering, you don't need cloth. Just apply direct to foam. Also you can use any type of paint after that.

RE: A10 Warthog IMAA legal size from Wowplanes
I took the Hog to the Monster Planes USA event last week. A friend was nice enough to make videos of two of the flights. Notice the weapons under the wings, looks a lot better with them.

We flew the Hog at the recent 3010 RCACF Big Bird Event. Someone made a video and sent it to me. Thought you would enjoy it too.

RE: A10 Warthog IMAA legal size from Wowplanes
I am going to be building an A-10 from scratch plans. It will be rough but I love to build now that I don't chase women!! The scale will be 1/7 th!! What size ducted fans should I use for this size bird? The wings will be 90 some inches wide. I am not into competition, but do it for my 15 yr old pilot , and he loves to knife edge his planes and the hog will do that great. But we dont want to be under powered. what fan units, motors, esc's should I implement and where do I get the parts?? Thanks from him and me.

RE: A10 Warthog IMAA legal size from Wowplanes
The plane you see in the video and this thread is a builder's kit and not an ARF. It is available at http://www.wowplanes.com
The A10 is an easy plane to fly but a very hard one to design and get it right. This is my third design before I finally got it right. It should not be built "rough", otherwise it is not really an A10. I don't mean to be rude, but from the questions you are asking, my advise would be to go with a proven design kit since you are a builder. That way you will avoid a lot of time and money spent to have something that may not look or fly as good. I hope you take this advice in the way it is intended - sincere.

Another words " Buy my kit" Yes your kit is nice but very pricey for what you get. I don't mean this as a put down or being rude but your not the only guy out there with the ability to draw a set of plans and cut some foam and wood. Sure I know your in the business but discouraging other modelers, come on. It's a great looking EDF and I considered your kit at one point then when I did the math I could not justify it. $350.00 buys a lot of foam, balsa and ply.

RE: A10 Warthog IMAA legal size from Wowplanes
Well now Mike, why would you think I am asking you to buy my kit? There is a very nice Mibo kit 110" (more like the size you want) for only $8000 and a 74" (same size as mine) from rcmjet for only $1300. You see now how hard I am trying to save you money?

RE: A10 Warthog IMAA legal size from Wowplanes
I guess posting a link to your website was my first clue. Second was the comment about was about how hard it was to design and discouraging the individual from attempting his own build. . Sorry my comments ruffled your feathers. Your a vendor hawking your product's here for free. I'm just pointing out other alternatives. Were did I imply I wanted a $8000 A-10?
Such as this one along the same lines as yours.

I own the plans and can mod them to be more scale and build it at a 1/3rd of the price.

Although the A10 is a jet and we associate jets with speed, the A10 looks best when flown slow and graceful like a ballerina in the sky.
