Dynam 262 Trouble--No power

I bought a Dynam Me-262, and it is greatly underpowered. Also, there's no airflow past the ESC's or battery, and they get hot. First flight crashed on takeoff due to stall. When it finally got going (long takeoff roll), it was S-L-O-W.
Tried to upgrade to a 5S LiPo pack, and drilled holes in fuse for airflow. But something failed with smoke, followed by another mild crash.

Any ideas on how to add power? Recommended 70 mm fans or motors? or ESC's? Hate to throw the thing away.

the stock esc will not handle 5s all that well, as you found out.
mine has some 6s, 60 amp, units and i use 2 4s 5000 packs, one for each fan.
single battery is really stressed trying to power both fans.

there is a whole great long thread on this airplane over in the electric warbirds section of the rcg forum.
