Banana hobbie's new f18

1 Attachment(s)
I am looking for a new edf jet and I saw this brand new 2009 F18 from banana hobby. I saw it and went, WOW, that thing looks fun to
fly. Here's what it looks like: http://www.bananahobby.com/1754.html. I was wondering if anyone here wanted to give me any info on
banana hobby and their stuff. Ive been looking around and have seen some mixed reviews that their "stuff didnt work"; "Best ever";
etc. I also wanted to know if anyone has a rough estimate of how fast a foam jet can go?;)

Heres some photos of the jet if you guys were to lazy to go to the site:)

You can get a foam jet to go as fast and you can spend and the foam can take. Funjet from Multiplex I have clocked one at a 129 miles hour, With 4000mAh 4c battery and inrunner brushless motor. Hobbylobby.com and a nice f-16 the comes RTF with 4cell battery and all ready to go that rips pretty darn good and looks great. Check them out too. The planes look they are from the same company.

I have been looking at this jet as well. I will go with the kit version myself. I plan on using a 6 cell battery setup compared to what they are offering. From the looks of the video it flys very nice on the current sept-up, but FASTER IS BETTER!

I plan on getting the plug n play without the reciever or transmitter. I might upgrade it to the Df-51 dia from Ductedfans.com if I can. Heres the link to check it out. http://www.ductedfans.com/Schubeler_DS51_DIA.html . Any of you guys used this edf unit?;)

Detour747 I could not view the link on the fan for some reason but I think I may change my fan out depending on how the stock fan looks. This will be the fan I install if needed. This jet looks awesome!

I added a new pic up at the top just to show how big the jet is.(Just in case you were curious) The wingspan is 40in and the length is almost 61in. It also goes 110+ mph with stock edf.:D

Pilots, I have been stuck in a snow blizzard in the mountains for the past 5 days. I just was successful in returning to town and I will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have about this FA/18. Please post your questions here and or private message me. I am working on the flying video of the 90mm Blue Angels and the Diamond Viper soon.

Happy Holidays !

Pete :)

PS:

Mike06659, sent you a private message.

Looks nice, but no plug & play option? I'm not paying for a transmitter for one plane...

Subed, they do have a PNP option. Use the drop down bar and select what you want when ordering.

i do not understand this either. on other forums you find other post's where someone buys a recevier ready edf jet. then they gut it out and replace the fan unit, esc and sometimes the servo's. before he even flew it one guy completely gutted out his receiver ready edf jet and replaced everything in it??....so you got $500.00 to $ 600.00 in a flying styrofoam cup....one of flying buddies gutted out his HL jet and replaced everything in it. i told him he could have bought the thing in arf form and put your own equipment in it. he told me he did not know that!.......oh well...if you can afford it!.

See, if "junk" was not sold RTF or even PnP we would not need to upgrade or "replace" components.

I think Pete is tryig to make a good product, and taking the necessary steps to make an out-of-box winner that needs little to no tinkering.

Where people always seem to get hung up, is the fact that some people just "need" to change things and get "more" from their toys than what is there initialy.

Granted there is a lot of severely underpowered planes that have C.O.G. issues, poor components, and shoddy workmanship from the factories.

By making a plane set up nicely from the start, and charging a bit more it actualy saves us money, material, and manhours not needing to change it.

Personaly, I love nothing more than just sticking batteries in the charger, gluing wings on, settig the RX/TX power "ON" and then roaring up and off the ground with a perfectly flying machine roght out of the box with little to no tinkering.

If that peace of mind cost 500.00, then so be it.

RE: Banana hobbie's new f18

Actually, Pete said on his flight review that he's working on making the jet avialable arf and just the body itself also. So we have quit a few choices now: ready to fly, plug n play, almost ready to fly, and the kit. After we chose that we have the most difficult choice... color. It comes in jolly roger, blue angel, and diamond viper.( I dont know how diamond viper looks yet.)

well mine should be here wednesday. i ordered the plug and play. i am putting a ar 7000 2.4 on mine. i think the electronics will be fine. i think we are easy fooled by all these name brands. i have bought top notch first class equipment like jr 8711s which i find to beoverpriced junk. i used cheaper hitecs which i think are better. so what i am getting at is just because electronics dont have that top name doesnt mean its no good. well anyway i will let you guys know how this bird flys. i think it will be awesome...

We will have spare batteries up on our site as soon as my IT guy can get it posted! You can use a 4000 5S. As long as the general dimensions are close to the stock pack.

Happy Holidays!

Pete
