Default Favorite Shops and Stores

Hello all, I am interested in starting this hobby, But as I live in a small town in Alabama, USA I am not familiar with any local stores or clubs. Thus my purchases must be made online. Could you help point me to the most knowledgeable and reliable places on-line to shop.

Thanks in advance,

James Denney

Thank you for you quick response and the list of trusted sites. I must now spend the time to sort through the site and determine which aircraft I want to begin with.

Regards

I use to travel by childersburg alot when I went to and from Auburn from Birmingham. I would say the closest hobby shop that is near where you live is in the Alabaster area up toward Birmingham. Its called Oak Mountain Hobbies. It used to be an evenly distributed hobby shop but the new owners are now more train finatics. They still have quite a big selection of airplanes and parts and helicopters cars though. If you go even more north there is another hobby shop in Homewood called "homewood toy and hobby" They have a lot of airplane and helicopter merchandise as well. I am closest to homewood toy and hobby and know a lot of the guys that work in there. They are friendly and would be able to help you pick out everything you need or help you with problems you might have. There is another hobby town usa in the auburn area which was another hobby shop that I used to go to alot when I was down there. I cant think of any more shops inbetween that is closer to where you live though.

Well I actually fly up in the morris kimberly area at the Birmingham RC Association. If you wanted to come watch a good group of guys fly though there is actually a great field a little closer to you in Alabaster. Thier club is called alabaster RC association. Both of our clubs have a website if you do a google search. The guys there are pretty knolledgeable and could get you started out on the right foot as well.

I think there is one more club in clanton alabama called Central Alabama Sport Flyers of I-65

Here is a link to the AMA club search, just type in where you live and it will show you all the local clubs in the area
