Default Quick Question about receiver/transmitter/crystals/servos

I have a Futaba Skysport 4YF-FM with a channel 16 crystal on the way.

Question: Can i use a Hitec 555 reciever with it? And if so: Do i need a Hitec channel 16 receiver crystal or a Futaba receiver crystal?

Or can i not use any Hitec receiver with a Futaba Skysport 4YF-FM and i have to get a Futaba receiver? If that's the case, could i then still use Hitec servos?

Hitec receivers are negative shift and therefore compatible with Futaba transmitters - all you need is for both your Tx and your Rx to be on the same channel [in your case Channel 16]. Any matching crystal will work in your Rx (get a genuine Hitec, but a compatible Futaba or even a generic crystal would also work). Your Hitec servos will work perfectly well with your Futaba Tx and Hitec Rx.

Cheers, Phil

Default RE: Quick Question about receiver/transmitter/crystals/servos

For simplicity's sake and safety's sake, ALWAYS use the crystal that is designed for the receiver.

Futaba receiver? Futaba crystal!
Hitec receiver? Hitec crystal!

Besides, Hitec crystals are less expensive.

In the USA and Canada, Hitec and Futaba transmitters and receivers are compatible with each other. Also, JR and Airtronics transmitters and receivers are compatible with each other. All four of the aforementioned brands of servos are plug-n-play compatible with all four brands of receivers.

Hitec, GWS, FMA Direct, Berg, and a few other manufacturers make receivers for all brands of transmitters. Just make sure you get a receiver that's "shift selectable," is specifically compatible with your transmitter brand, or is an autodetect type.

Just to tick you off at the manufacturers: In the rest of the world, JR, Airtronics, Hitec and Futaba are completely compatible with each other!!! We're the only ones that have to suffer!
