Default SS CG Questions

Hello,

I got a RTF SS at the hobbie store. I installed my gear and battery. My wing is approximately 5" from the front. I measured the CG 4 1/8" from the leading edge of the wing. The battery is 4 1/2" from the front sticking about 1/2" in front of the landing gear. The plane just dips very slightly forward on the GWS CG machine. Does this sound correct? I found the battery much closer to the front than I expected Thanks!

Don't worry about it. Do what you gotta do to make the plane balance correctly. That's the important thing here.

I've seen some pretty wacky things done to balance planes. Pounds of lead in the nose. Batteries strapped to the firewall, or even the engine mount! Larger capacity flight packs, even larger engines. Just goes to show that you gotta do what you gotta do. If you can do it without adding extra dead weight, you're way ahead of the game.

The balance sounds about right... slight nose-down attitude.

Are you saying the battery pack is on the fuse stick bottom and it runs through the landing gear and protrudes about a half inch towards the motor? That should work, although on my SS the landing gear doesn't have enough room at the top for a battery to pass through??
