What about the Mountain Models' DANDY plane?
Does anyone know anything about the Mountian Models' DANDY plane? It seems to be a good plane. I just wanted to see if anyone in the forum has owned one. Check it out here: http://www.mountainmodels.com

Yep I have one. My 14 year old son is just finishing building his. Great plane both to build and even better to fly. I would highly recomend Montain Models kits. I also have his Cessna 180 and love it.

I just finsihed building a Dany Sport. Awaiting some batteries for its maiden flight. the build was easy and fun to do. Cant wait to fly it.

I'll be finishing mine up tomorrow. I can't wait to fly it! I'm using a Berg receiver, a GWS 350C motor, and a 1500 mAh LiPoly battery. Should be a great flyer.

I flew my plane today for the first time. It was awesome! I love my Dandy. Pointed into a 7-8 mph wind, the plane is *so* slow and gentle. I think that overall it is slower than my Aerobird was. It doesn't require as big of a field either. I think that overall, it is easier to fly than the Aerobird, though less forgiving.
My first time landing the plane, I pointed her into the breeze and reduced the power. As I did this, the plane very slowly fell out of the air onto the grass. It was very cool.
I highly recommend the Dandy sport.

Did you get your first flight in? I flew mine a couple of times today. It was a little too windy though. My dandy doesn't seem to like wind at all. It was quite a handful.

No, I didnt get to fly it. I was watching the trees all day. When trees with no leaves are moving around I feel its too windy [:@].

Good idea. Actually, when I flew today, my third takeoff didn't quite happen because the wind caught the plane as it came off the groundand turned it 90 degrees toward a park bench! I missed the bench and "landed" on an embankment, flipping the plane up onto its back and causing one of the wheels to come off. [:'(] Of course, that was a 30 second fix, but it ended my flight today. And that's probably a good thing. Wind + Dandy + New Pilot = Bad.

I was reading about the Dandy over at E-zone, and I learned something that might be useful to other Dandy builders. One of my wings was slightly warped and I hadn't even known to check for that. Just sight along the bottom of the wing.. it should be straight and level. If it isn't, twist the wing until it's straight and then iron the wrinkles out of the covering. In my previous flights I needed a little aileron trim to stay level. Hopefully I won't need that now.
