Default Aerobird Transmiter batteries

Does anybody Knows how can you tell if the transmiter batteries for the Hobbyzone Aerobird are still good for flying. The only indication is a red led on the transimeter. Does this go off or flash when the batteries need replacment?

Good question. My impression of the controller is that it's not very sophisticated. Normally, a controller has a meter or a series of LEDs (red, yellow, green) that indicate the status of the batteries. From the sounds of it, the Aerobird controller may not have any indication that the batteries are going bad, except perhaps when the airplane spirals out of control.

Someone must've run their Aerobird batteries down by now...

The remote will beep when the batteries get low, I found this out when I forgot to turn off the remote after doing some test on my AB. I was in the middle of soldering a Power Supply and heard what sounded like a smoke alarm down stairs, So I dropped what I was doing and ran to the hall to find it was coming from the room next door. After franticly searching around I realized it was the remote. It gives pretty load beeps when it does go off. The worst part, I drained 8 brand new Duracell Ultras[:@].
