Default Hover/ Beaver/gear/prop

I have a Himax brushless that came with three gear choices.
5.3:1 4.3:1 and 6.6:1

Does anyone know the best gear ratio and prop size/pitch to use for hovering??

I am trying it out in a GWS beaver. I have 12/8, 11/47, 10/8, 9/7, 9/6 and 9/47 size/pitch gws/ep props.

Thanks,
Joe

Use lowest gear ratio, 6.6-1 and low pitch prop. Diameter is governed by how many amps your motor is rated at.

Himaxx makes about a hundred different motors. Your options are limited heavily by which motor it is...

The best setup for hovering is the largest prop and the highest gear ratio. But don't run off and put the 6.6:1 and 12x8 prop on the motor just yet. As I said, the motor makes a HUGE difference. What battery are you using? That's important too.
