any sources for braided copper for making up battery pacs?
I thinking of building some pacs with Lion cells 1850 mAH batteries. I though some braided copper crimped on the ends would make a good flexible connector. Options so far are possibly 1) the braided wire used in leaded / stained glass work; 2) some of the braided copper wire for wicking desoldering; outer sheath of coaxial cable but most I've checked are aluminum wires. I'm not sure of proper gauge for linking the cells together. Would about 16 ga equivalent be too much or too light. for ( 2s2p or 2s3p pacs) ?

Do they have Radio Shack in Mexico? They stock smaller desoldering braid, which you can "scrunch" to make a wider connection.
I get my desoldering braid from Hobby Lobby, MECI.com, and/or Dynamo Electrics.

Matt:
Found this at their site: http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...t%5Fid=64-2090
In your opinion, what would be the appropriate size pacs for this size braided copper?
Did a trial solder job to one tabbed battery using Ancor tinned marine wire 12ga ( AWG CM area 6500 SAE CM 5833). Seems like overkill, but what do I know. Glad there are forums like this one. The tabs took regular solder readily using a small drop of Sil-Brite liquid flux.
Terminals will be Deans Utra female.
Yep, we have a small Radio Shack locally, parts inventory could be better.
