Turning without a rudder (Space Scooter)
Folks,
Just wondering what advice there is out there for turning without a rudder? I can only wonder have never flown with ailerons, but the Multiplex Space Scooter looks
like a good one to start with. A 3 Channel setup, 2 control surfaces. Correct me if I'm wrong, but to make a left turn, I would first dip the left wing down slightly
then pull up elevator, complete the axis rotation, then dip the right wing back to level flight?

You have the basic idea. However, many (most?) planes will begin turning as soon as you roll into a bank, without the application of any up elevator. The lift of the wings will make the plane turn. Use of the elevator will make the plane turn sharper or turn without losing altitude.
The exact behavior depends on the design and flying characteristics of the plane. I'm not familar with the characteristics of the Space Scooter.

The Space Scooter has differential built into the aileron setup. This differential assists in reducing any yaw effect from not having a rudder to help in turns. My Scooter turns just fine without elevator use, but using the elevator certainly will not hurt.
The Space Scooter was my second plane, I still have it and really enjoy flying it. I installed a rudder after flying without one for sometime. Enjoy the plane it is a great aileron trainer.
