Pve been reading this thread and there's a ton of helpful info. Thanks guys. I guess I'm the newest member of the Electristar family.
I just ordered mine from Tower. It was on sale for 199 - 25 online coupon + 8.99 shipping = $183. This is such a real steal. THe LHS has it for $349 and I almost bought it last week. Good thing I changed my mind.
I've been on the simulator for 3 months now and I think I'm ready for the real thing.

Just the radio that comes with the Eletristar is $140.00 so $175.00 ($199.00 - $25.00) for the whole thing is a very good price. It flys nicely on skis and I'm going to try floats this summer. I was looking at the Super Cub but for a few dollars more I went with the Electristar.

I need to get out today anyway i need to go to radio shack and get me a new soldering iron.

I replaced my prop adapter with this one. I hate dealing with all of those small grub screws. Especially after you use Loctite on them.

I just got a set of Great Planes 8.4V 3600mah NiMH batteries and they don't fit in the battery brackets. Do I need to remove the brackets or can I place the batteries on top of each other in the center of the battery cave or will this mess up the CG?

RE: Hobbico Electristar Select EP Trainer RTF
I just assemble my plane together and it was pretty simple and straight forward. My concern is that on one side of the wing, there are lots of bubbles from the monokote cover. The bubbles are running 2 inches wide along the most of the length of the flaps and there are also some in the front of the wing. Should I be concerned? How can I get rid of it?

THe Rx battery that came with my kit is a red pack, and says 4.8 V 400maH. I think this is inadequate for this application. I haven't flown it yet but I think 400mah may be just enough for 1 or 2 flights. Are you guys still using the stock RX pack? How long do they last before charging them again.

You sure it is not a 4.8 v 700 mAh ? Use your iron
to remove the bubbles. It helps to use a T pin to put
some small holes in them b4 ironing btw.

I used a iron and the bubbles smoothed right out, no problem. The only problem i am having is at about 60% thorttle the motor pulsates. Talk to hobbico i may have to send the esc in for them to check. I ordered some different batteries going to try them first.......

RE: Hobbico Electristar Select EP Trainer RTF
I just bought an Electristar last week..and like many people, are going through the battery selection thing.
- How much flight time are you getting out of those 3300mah packs?
- The Electifly 8.4V 3000mah they spec for the plane comes in @ 14.9oz with a size of 6.2 x 1.9 x 1 -- while the 8.4V 4500mah/40A comes in @ 14.5oz and 6.13 x 1.9 x 1 in size. At a cost of $28/pack
http://www.all-battery.com/index.as...ROD&ProdID=1680
So given that the size and weight is less and your going from a 3000mah to a 4500mah - won't that be a no brainer. ..and if that does work, then....
$64,000 question - Any guess how much flight time the 4500mah packs would give you?
Thanks,
-mike-

I'm holding out for a TP 3300mAh 4s lipo. If all is well I'll get a second one.
Remember, nMih you need Two (2).
