Default GWS Slow Stick Modifications

O.K. I'm convinced to get into the indoor flight fun. I will be getting a Slow Stick this weekend. I would like to know what kind of modifications have been done, and which ones work and don't work. Like has anyone tried using pull-pull on the control surfaces? What about adding ailerons?

Thanks in advance
Duane

Default GWS Slow Stick Modifications

I haven't read of many modifications at all, it seems to be a pretty solid plane. Many people replace the wheels, but I'm learning on my slow stick and I haven't borken mine yet.

The ailerons have been tried a lot with almost no success--with the dihedral and the undercambered wing, I guess it's just too stable...

Default Slow Stick Mod's

Here are the mod's that I am using:

1. Rudder/Vertical Stabilizer: Use 5-min epoxy in addition to tape for a stronger joint to the fuselage. Several flyers report that the tape alone becomes weak over time.
2. Fuselage: Insert 3/8" square balsa dowel into hollow aluminum fuselage for added strength. Several flyers report that they have bent the fuselage on hard landings.
3. Wheels: Replace with all foam wheels. Several flyers report that the stock wheels break/bend/etc.

I also found this detailed Slow Stick assembly procedure by Erick Royer to be very helpful (lots of pictures): http://www.rcuniverse.com/reviews.ph...ew&reviewid=75

Best of luck and let us know how it goes!

Tom
