Default Beginner Radio, what to buy?

I have two 3 channel FM radios from my RTF planes which I really don't like. So I am planning on getting a 4 channel so that I can swap the crystal from my 3 channel and use the 4 channel FM radio. Any recommendation from experts? I am looking for a radio that has trainer port too. By the way, what is a PCM?

for 200 bucks you can get a dx6 spectrum radio from unitedhobbies.com... pcm stands for pulse code modulation more information on the two varieties of fm radios can be found here among other places http://www.aerodesign.de/peter/2000/...M_PPM_eng.html

Don't Buy a Standard Radio
http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4454

Futaba 6EXAS - $160

Airtronics VG6000 - $180
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXEUY4**&P=7

If you are going for lowest price, this Hitec Laser 4 is adequate, but I would recommend the radios above first $99

I ordered a DX6 for myself. DX7 is good for heli's ,and a bit overkill for parkflyers I would think.

I love anything Spektrum in general. I use it for my cars and such as well....

I figure you need a good radio, or you will just get frustrated with your equipment. Especially if someone gets on your frequency. I am moving from a Commander II to a Yak-55 foamy, so you bet I will have DR set low, as well as EXP set low around center stick.

I had a DX6 but when the DX7 came out I got it. The DX6 only holds 10 models and I needed more. The DX7 holds 20. I am thinking of getting another DX7 because I already have it filled and need room for more planes than the 20 it allows.

When I bought the DX6 I intended to use it for my indoor planes only, because that was where I had to share my channel with as many as 3 other fliers. That didn't let me fly much. But after using it for a year I decided to use the Spektrum for all of my flying and the DX7 has enough added features that I have decided my only choice is another DX7 or fewer planes. I'll let you guess which one will more then likely win.

Isn't the DX7 the only one that supports the 6100 receiver, if so then its not overkill for park flying but ideal!
