New to electrics

I was given one of the new Airtronics VG6000 but this one has the 2 little servos and a speed controller with cutoff I was wondering what powers the servos and reciever does the same battery that runs the motor also run the electronics? I was also given a Challenger 400 electric aerobatic plane and thought that I would use the parts from the radio in it but when I opened the radio box it has 2 power switches one that is like my glow planes and this little one connected to the speed controller. It also says to plug the speed controller into CH 3 so I'm confused does this reciever take power in thru CH 3 to power everything else or do I still need another battery pack and use the switch that looks like what I use on glow planes? I've wanted to get into electric power for a while now but no one I know flies them so info has been hard to find.

i'm kinda new too, but most of these things work with battery eliminator circuitry. Your speed controller will have to have this on it so you can use the same battery for your receiver as well as your motor. The speed controller should have 2 separate wires that go to the power on your receiver and to your ch3 for the throttle i am assuming.

As truckinusa says, the power for the servos and receiver comes from the BEC, battery eliminator circuit, in the speed controller. There's a tiny voltage regulator inside the speed control that taps a bit of power off the main battery and sends it in through the + and - pins on channel 3.

Here's a neat little piece of information: All the + pins, and all the - pins, inside any receiver are connected together. If you apply power to any set of + and - pins, you will power the entire receiver, no problem!
