am I over-propping this setup?

Dandy sport with GWS 350C-C motor and gearbox, 7.4v 1500 mah Li-Poly battery, spinning a 10x8 prop.

What do you think?

It might be a little much:

As Matt says - it is just off their charts, but why not put a Whattmeter on it and see what the current draw really is - if it is less than 8A you are probably okay [that would be ~50-55W-in which should be fine for a 350C motor].

Cheers, Phil

RE: am I over-propping this setup?

Hmm, I wish I had a whattmeter. My VOM doesn't measure amps, either, or I'd test it that way. I picked up a selection of props today at the LHS. Unfortunately, the only one that will fit without an adapter is a 10x4.7. I think it will work though. Motorcalc predicts that this prop will draw 8.2 amps peak (56.1 W) and produce 13.9 oz of thrust. My Dandy weighs about 12 oz., and this combo will let it climb vertically. I tested it tonight in my bedroom... it'll climb right out of your hand if you let it.

I'll probably also use a 9x4.7 prop to get the amps down to about 6.5 and increase the run time. I'll still have 10.7 oz of thrust to play with.

Thanks,
Matt
