Need help with battery/motor

Hello, first of all I'd like to say that I'm a newbie, so please treat me as one :) ( assume I know nothing)

I'm interested in buying a 4 channel RC transmitter and servos (please see link http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXKSB523&P).
The only thing missing is a battery pack for the plane, and a motor for the plane.

Could you please advise me on what kind of motor and complementary battery I should buy if I want to fly some balsa/foam planes, a yard in length at most?

Thank you.

What p-51 is it? Is it the GWS? I'd look at going brushless if you want the plane to perform and a lipo battery. Battery a 3 cell 1320 or 2100 but as far as a brushless motor I need to know the brand name of the plane or the weight.

I'm thinking of making from scratch.

Well I'm actually hoping to use the battery and motor for more than one plane, so I'd like to interchange a bit.

So I'd like it to be as versatile as possible, so not too specific, just an all rounder beginners motor and battery, but still good enough so that I can use it later on when I'm a bit better as well.
