Recharge Time

:DI know next-to-nothing about electric but have become interested over the past several months (thanks Model Airplane News (magazine). My question is, after you've arrived at the flying field and exhausted the battery on the first flight, do you then pack up and head home to recharge? Surely the batteries won't recharge in 10-12 minutes at the field? Please advise. Thanks.

RE: Recharge Time

I usually bring multiple packs and multiple planes that keep me busy for at least an hour or so. A charger attached to my car battery would lengthen my visit should I have the time...

I also bring several battery packs. I am currently building a field box that will house a small 12 volt hobby battery for the long visits to the park :D

:DThanks, guys. I don't think that I'm the first one to realize that electric is the future.................with the advancement in the technology it's certainly something to look forward to.

RE: Recharge Time

Basically, you should not exceed the battery's rated amperage/hour in charging the battery. Therefore, a 700mah battery should be charged at no more than 0.7 amps and will take one hour to fully charge. A 1200mah battery should be charged at 1.2 amps for one hour, etc.

I usually go to the park with several planes and two batteries per plane. I fly early in the morning, so I charge the batteries the night before. If they are LiPo, they don't need to be peaked; if they are NiMh, I throw them on the charger for a quick peak while I am getting dressed, eating breakfast, etc.
