I have been working with gr8flyer55 to make a presentable CDI schematic and board. Attached is a Zipped file with the timer schematic he developed and board design with a bill of materials. Those people using Eagle will be able to open the Eagle files and manipulate them. Non-Eagle users can open the png files. I strongly urge installing the free version of Eagle so you can manipulate and print the files as you need them.
Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to post either Eagle files or zipped files here. Moreover, converting to jpg may introduce dimensional errors. If someone knows how to post the correct formats. let me know. Otherwise, we could start a thread on a forum that will support those formats.

Thanks John for the post! Here's a picture of the first prototype working board, designed to interface with a CH ignition and my Original CDI design which will be posted later. Also I am posting the PDF file for etching the board true to size. The second PDF is the parts layout for the board.

The Hex file was written by Nyemi. It has a generic curve which works well for all my conversion engines so far. Starts at 0 degrees for starting, at idle it is 6 degrees, and at around 4,000 RPM it starts increasing to a max of 28 degrees. Top end for this hex file is set at roughly 9,800 RPM. where it starts a decline proportional to RPM.

This is why I never followed the "new" CDI threads. Way over the heads of most people in this forum. I can build small do it yourself electronics projects, and usually figure out schematics, but I've never seen anything that a layman could understand, follow, nor build in your posts. If it ever becomes a simple, easily understandable by a layman/beginning electronics experimenter project, then I would be interested, as I imagine many more here in the forum might. Meanwhile, you are just "talking far over the heads" of most people here I would venture to say...

That said, this timer includes 12 parts plus a pcb. If you eliminate the strobe LED, then there are only 7 parts. Most of those parts are for the power supply to filter noise in the ignition environment. In other words, without the power supply, you have the microcontroller, a resistor, and a very common transistor. The simplest project for flashing an LED for rank beginners with a microcontroller also has 3 parts plus the power supply, actually most have 5 parts excluding the power supply. It just can't get any simpler.
So, what you seem to be complaining about is building anything with a microcontroller in it. That is your choice. What stumps me is why you continue to read a thread that is obviously microcontroller related and criticize its complexity.

If you require something different in your advance curve even after I just told you it works on conversion engines, then email your requests to Nyemi. I do not do programming for this project!

If you have fig2 advange, you have a hex for the 4stroke engine.
I have a 2stroke engine, I can not use this hex.
Wat do I need to change in post#5 to get the 2stroke advange ?

The excel sheet will only work with Mikro C programs. This software is written in Assembly Language and Excel does not produce the ASM code. Nyemi offered to write a hex file with your curve in it. You have to know what curve you need first.

What engine do you have that is making this curve so difficult to figure out? If you watch my YouTube video I posted, you will see this system was written for a 2 stroke airplane engine and not a 4 stroke. My airplane has a 2 stroke engine on it in the video, and it runs quite well.

Now the engine run also good without cdi, with universal cdi it run also good.
I can buy a real one for the same price with the same options - no options is not wat i want.
If the engine run not good, i must every time sent some-one a question to make new hex.
Maybe wait few day befor some-one sent the hex file and i get again not good hex for the engine.
How long it go take befor i have run a good engine in this way ?
Timebord gompy is ok, this one is smal and you say better but only if i can change to perfect and not almost to perfect.
I know micro c and exel too, no problem to work with i have also brains.

2T-4T much difference. I will show RCexl original ignition curve. This is a general curve which is not good 2T-4T. 2T much ignition advance. 4T little ignition advance. The problem can be corrected by the Hall position. More or less success.
I show Walbro ignition curve supply. I have created. Walbro ignition curves, hex program.
Will soon be in touch.

John, I am considering moving this whole project to the rc projects site you posted the link for.
It would eliminate the beginners problems and attract only seriously interested participants.
This is definitely NOT a beginners project ! Only those with experience in this area of electronics should be attempting to build it anyway in my opinion. I have done alot of work on this project and I don't want to see it fail miserably because of someone's inability to follow simple instructions and criticize my work on this project. You and others involved from it's inception have put too many hours of work into it, because you have felt the need to produce what I feel is an excellent addition to the original ignition project initiated by JMJ and Rob. I also have other ignition related projects which I am working on for those who want the satisfaction derived from a DIY standpoint. These won't be released until we have a suitable site to post them.

If you need proof that it works, watch my video of it actually working before you say it doesn't work. As for the project itself, it is a "do it yourself" project. Which in turn means, you gather the parts, you make the circuit board, you program the chip with the provided hex file, then and ONLY then, you decide if it is not the project to fit your needs.
If free is not cheap enough for you, then I would strongly suggest that you go out and spend your money on a commercially available ignition that fills your needs. I know you can't get RcExel to change a curve for your engine because you think it won't work without ever trying it.
I stand my ground in defense of everyone participating in this DIY project.
