Default Moki 135 piston scratch - sleeve OK

Hello Everyone,

I made the dumbest mistake

For blocking the piston I use a screwdriver through the exhaust and ofcourse i damage the top of the piston which generates two scratches on the piston of my MOKI 135.

Im already enough mad with myself, as this engine was great and I was planning on converting it to Gas

The ring looks OK and there is no scrath at all on the sleeve. (only two scratches on the piston)

Would this engine still work OK or I totally blew it. (I think if the sleeve is OK and the ring is not damaged there shouldnt be loss of compressión right?)

Thanks a lot for your comments

Sorry to tell you but from the picture you posted the ring and piston are damaged. I can't imagine what you were doing to cause that as it would take quite a bit of force to make such an indent in the ring which in turn damaged the ring groove. I would suggest replacing both items.

If the piston ring is OK, then scratches on the piston are usually not a problem. But you need to ensure the ring isn't being jammed in its piston ring groove though. You can get a new ring from the manufacturer or from Frank Bowman for it.  When you were using the screwdriver it could have pushed or bent down the upper piston edge into the ring groove. So you need to make sure the piston is free in its groove.

You really need a ring and piston maybe even a sleeve

I agree. I'd replace the piston and ring regardless of how hard parts may be to get. That piston looks pretty ruined to me.
