Default Craftsman/Poulan 42cc Chainsaw Engine

Have this in the market to convert to r/c puller, boat or airplane if you know how to trim it down. http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/item.cfm?itemID=966450

Not positive my friend, but you should check. My Poulan 42cc had the magneto coil mounted on the saw housing; not on the engine. Your engine might be a Poulan 46cc.

When I was looking for parts I used the model number Craftsman 358.357181 and it came up with 42cc.I have a Stihl 20cc trimmer engine that has the magneto mounted on the inside of the front metal shroud, which i thought was weird. The only way I could use it would be with electronic ignition.

Or you can do away with the ignition and run gas/glow mix with a glow plug. Thats what I did with my 42cc Poulan.

are you sure it is a poulan? Also all the 42cc poulan I have sen and worked has 4 cylinder bolts and carb on the cylinder. But it has been a few years sense I have purchased one. Just wondering if they changed that much.

When I contacted Poulan, they said they made a run of these under the Craftsman name. The engine case would have to be trimmed to use for r/c airplane use to cut down on some weight.
