Check with Rooster353. He found a stash of NOS Homelite 30cc long blocks really cheap. Also, many of the later model Ryobi weedies came with the Homelite 30.

He got back to me,but didn't have any for sale and gave me a link to where he got his parts.
The link was to an Ebay store and I ordered a 30cc short block that had a bent top fin corner.Mine has a clutch so I'll just use the cylinder, piston and rod.

Glad it worked out for you. I didn't think he had any for sale himself. I was just hoping his source would still have one available for you to buy.

You can't change the rod on the Homelite 25/30 cc engines without special tools, and there is no need to change it unless the rod bearing is bad anyway.

Some of the 25's had smaller cylinder mounting screws so you might need to drill out the holes in your crankcase.

If you need any other info on this swap, W8ye, a moderator here in the forums has done them. A Homey 30 is much better than the 25's.

Good luck and have fun,

The rod and piston on the 30cc are new,so I won't have to do that.I exchanged cylinders on one I did and the holes were small. I thought maybe one was SAE and the other metric so I drilled and tapped it for larger one.I was thinking of golf balling the piston and stuffing the crankcase also.A WA 167 will also replace the original Zama carb. This Homelite brushcutter also has a solid shaft instead of a flex shaft. It turns a 7" Homelite Machette blade that has chainsaw teeth on it.

I was thinking of a different engine when I said you can't change the rod. My mistake! Sorry about that. Old brain fart!

WHAT is your creation for??? (Besides the obvious; Zombie killing.)

It's for cutting small trees and saplings to clear out areas where they don't belong.I can take down trees up to about 3"in diameter using the blade above, but larger requires the use of an actual chainsaw which is hard on my back.
I got a new hobby of clearing out old cemeteries that have been neglected over the years.I'm searching for four small cemeteries that have been lost for many years. Nobody seems to know where the exact location of them is,but I found out in what local they were in.I may have found one of them by using a satellite.I need to get a hand held GPS to take me to the exact location. They're probably cover by brush and trees by now.
Below is one I cleared out last summer. It wasn't taken care of for about seven years.Zombie killing might be another use for it. Whoop off their heads, lol.

The only problem I encountered was that the 30cc rod wouldn't fit onto the 25cc crank pin.The crank pin was a larger diameter.I had to use the 30cc crankcase to do my transfer by moving everything to the 30cc one, including the crank extension for the clutch. It had a couple of bent fins as in the pic below, but was easily straightened. The muffler came apart so I took the screen out and cut the top off the little box inside the muffler to get more exhaust flow.Just have to put it all back together and see if it runs.If I ever stop using it as a trimmer engine I'll put the 25cc back onto the trimmer and keep the 30cc as an r/c boat or airplane engine.

Well, that's an interesting hobby, and a good way to find Zombies too I imagine! Double duty for your souped up Super Whacker!

Nice work, and between the exhaust mod and the 30cc upgrade, with new parts no less, you should notice a nice solid increase in power.
