Default Zenoah 1480

I finally got around to disassembling some blower engines which my nephew gave me. I thought that they were Shindawa since he also gave me several Shindawa trimmer engines. However upon disassembly they turned out to be Zenoah model 1480 engines. They have a bore of 4.005 cm and a stroke of 3.175 cm. This turnes out to be 40 cc. The engine looks promising as far as ease of conversion and weight.

Has anyone else run across this engine? How was the performance?

Hi,
They should have more power then a G-38. Blowers run full speed and usually have large carbs. Good luck.

Hi. I saw this old message from you. I have a Zenoah 1480 which needs ignition parts. Can you tell me of a parts distributor that might have these. Thanks!

I misread the number - mine is a Zenoah 1490. I'm actually repairing this for my leaf blower. I fly RC, but nothing bigger than a .60 Big Stick. Advantage Hobby carries parts for the 1490, so someone must be using it to fly airplanes. Attached is a picture of the 1490 with no carburator.

haleybob: Thanks for posting the photo. I bet all you need to do is rebuild the carb. The Zenoah engines are hard to wear out. Capt,n

Now we know where the mag rotor used on the Zenoah gassers comes from..
