Hi Darin,
I sent you an email and would love to buy one of these for the 33cc Homite engine. I think you have really come up with a winner product!
Thanks...Brian

RCSPOET flyer I have a gx 31 here but I have not dove into it yet. We will try to make one for any application. I will tear into the gx 31 next week and see what we have to work with. Flew mine all day today, everyone at the field that wanted to try, did, and they were amazed at how easy it started.

Hi, will you be able to ship to the UK?

I would like 2 flywheels, one for a Honda GX31 and one for a Ryobi 31cc weedwacker.

Hello, Would your new flywheel fit on the McCulloch MB290 engine? It will have a 3.5" flywheel I think. I have not received the blower yet, so am not sure. Thanks George

Darin,

I like where your going with this.... If you need any help down the line with a website for selling these let me know....

Also... concerning the concern about the flywheel slipping.

I raced unlimited 4cycle karts for years.... 35 HP methanol beasts with billet flywheels... We lapped the flywheels like you would a set of valves, then set the timing and tighten it down..... never had one slip.[8D]

Have these been tried on the Homelite 25's or 30's?I'd be interested in finding out what the numbers difference adds up to compared to the stock setup.Easier starting and the added benefit of shedding some fat off the front end sounds good enough if this is indeed the case.Only over time and with actual useage will we know for sure whether this design will stand up to the gyroscopic stresses being imposed upon it in actual flight.Hopefuly over time, there won't be any issues relating to metal fatigue and the design. If this holds up in the actual trial field,I think you have a winner on your hands here.

Bn120 How about giving us an up date on the progress on your lite weight flywheel. Have you started to ship any yet? If so have you gotten any reports back yet? Please let us know, and by all means don't let this thread die. []

bn120, I like your thinking. We built some custom flywheels years ago and we are still interested in magneto design. I wanted to share with you some of what I have learned. The magnet strength has less impact on the spark than the speed of the magnets passing the coil. We built some 2 inch flywheels with rare earth magnets and found they would not fire at less than about 2000 rpm do to the speed of the building magnetic field. It also helps if the magnets are connected in the flywheel north to south to better complete the field. I spoke with every magneto manufacturer I could find including Dale Phelon. If you dont already know he is the manufacturer of most all the flywheel and coils found on the cheap weed eater engines like Ryobi. I didnt get very far with the engineers. What I would like to see invented or produced is a small lightweight magneto system. I know it can be done but I dont have the complete understanding of how it all works. Some of my ideas were to place the magnets in the back side of the spinner backplate for engines like glow engines that have a bearing out by the prop. Another idea was to place the magnets in the counterweight of the crankshaft. Of course the crank balance may have to be adjusted but why not make it usable weight instead of having a flywheel at all. Why cant a smaller lighter coil be made? Does anyone here know what the properties or ratios of a coil winding are and just how small can it be made. I know ferrite makes a better core in a coil than the soft steel stampings found in the magneto coils. Any takers on this project? I can have them mass produced but a proven design has to be made first.

Thank you
Keith Baker

are you matching the taper to original crank or is there any taper at all.

Keith, the counter ballance I was working on works just ok, not good enough for production , I did get it to work at 1200 rpm, I am not finnished with it yet. I have a new 52cc I am working on I think I will bring to you to check out.
