Default What is it really?

I have just received a used Craftsman Bushwacker. It says on a end plate that it has 51.7cc's and that it is a model #636.796242.
I know that this engine sure looks familiar and Craftsman had contract built from many other engine manufactures.
It has a slide valve carb now but a large intake flange on the cyl. along with a insolator.
Question is what is it and is it worth a prop adapter kit?

Default RE: What is it really?

a lawnmower shop thought it might be a Techumsa [spelling] . what do you experts say? how about hp .
I've stripped it down, needs the blower cover to hold the ign. coil in place. Has a small stub shaft on the pto side w/nut retainer.
Thinking this over ,might be a canidate for a prop drive with a belt.
what do you think?
