Yeah, I understand. I have some beautiful planes, but tend to enjoy my old "clunkers" more than all of them...

Well, I finally got to vist Ken Lambert. We sure had a great time talking about engines. The neat thing was I could see several types of engines apart and see how the ports...ect compared! He has built fixtures and special setups to machine the Tiger parts for conversion to gas. He spent a few hours giving me tips on all the details. Let me say it does take a skill and time to do a Supertiger conversion to gas using needle bearings.

I got to visit Ken one last time at his shop on the way back form a Jet fly-in at Lakeland Florida. If weather permits there is one more big-bird fly-in near here and Ken and I will be there. That should be a blast!!! Best Regards Capt,n

Ken,
Are you still working with ST 2300 conversions? I have a 2300 I would like to run on Ignition with alky. I am interested in purchasing a hall sensor mount and drive hub with a magnet installed if you are still working with them. I am currently running an OS 7D carb with a cline reg. but would like to try ignition for a little more power. I am fine with glow fuel since I make my own and have alcohol (2) miles down the road from my house for $2.55 a gallon.

the cm-6 are the ones I use on the 2300 and larger, if you don't want bore the head I would recomend the rimfire brand, they are a little higher but I have had good performance from them.

I had thought about running the cm6, but was wondering how it would effect the compresion. I just ordered a c&h ign (1/4-32) so I am commited for now.

You are not committed. You can change the plug wire end/connector.

What about the (3) Rimfire's I have comming in the mail. If I can get a summer on a plug I will be just fine. I guess I can allways switch later on. When you drill and tap the head for the 10mm threads to fit the CM6 do you have to have to run a spacer with the compression washer to obtain the correct spacing.

NO and NO on the compression ring and spacer , If you have already orderd the 1/4 x 32 plugs use them just make sure you have the plug wire fastened so it does not flop around , breakage is the most problem with the little plugs not wear . I have run some of them 2-3 years with no problems.

Cool, what do you charge to install a hardened pin and needle bearings on the rod? And would that conversion hold up on glow fuel. I know that the webra bully and tartan ran needle bearings with alcohol and oil or normal glow. The only issue would be the added corosion factor.
But I could cut the fuel cost down, since the oil is my most expensive ingredient at 25.00 a gallon. My methanol costs 2.55 a gallon. You can email me at [email protected]
