Default Homelite 45

I am in need of an engine in the 45cc range for a warbird. What source equipment should I be looking for specifically to get this engine? I would like to keep the mag ignition instead of going electronic ign. From what I can tell this is possible with this engine. Can someone confirm?

Thanks,

Ben in SC

You get more bang for the buck with chainsaws, at least in my opinion.

Homelite and Pouland are good choices.

Engines in this catagory are not much lighter than engines in the 60cc class and the cost is almost the same.

You could always throttle back.

Check out http://wackerengines.com/ or http://www.lambertsrc.com/ just to name two.

Both have a great reputation and know what they are talking about.

And you can always check the ads on RCU for engines.
Someone is always upgrading or making some kind of change.
Trying to sell there old so they can buy new.
I've done well buying here.

Good Luck

yes, I have a 45 cc homelite engine in a 84 inch 18 lbs edge 540. I am using the stock mag on it and it works quite well.I used wacker engine parts, pete is a good guy to deal with, and quite knowledgable. You wont regret it.

Thanks for the info. I've done a few conversions in the past but not a Homey 45. I really wanted to know if anyone can tell me specifically what saw to source the 45 from. I've heard about the 18" timberman, are there any others?

Thanks,

The Echo CS-4500 makes a great engine to convert.

Partner concrete saws are light and powerful, though they are larger than 45cc.

Also the Echo PB-400 back pack blower is a good one. But the need an electronic ignition because they turn backwards.

The guys at the places I listed should know all this stuff, especially Lambert.

I've got a 45 cc homelite engine halfway converted. I want to put it in my GS TF P-51. Will it give enough power??

BenWillis, check out Brillelli site, they had some Homie 45cc for special order a while back. I think Mark converted them.
