Default Walbro Needle Question

Hello,

I was given a new Walbro WT 502 carb.
it has an adjustable low speed needle.

The high jetting is fixed. There is an
aluminum “peg”as long as the low
speed needle projecting from where
the high needle would normally be.

I’d like to know if the plug can be removed,(glued?)
and if the port is likely to be machined, threaded,
and ready to have a needle and spring installed?

Thanks.

Not sure on what you are saying but with some carbs you will find that the hi needle looks like a peg but it is a needle that take a tool to tern it. What I did in the pased with this typ of carb is cut off around the needle and cut a slot in it. Then just run a flat tip driver on it.

This "peg" looks rather like the stem of a golf tee.
It seems to be one solid chunk of aluminum with
three different diameters along it's lenght.

Hummmm I think that is what I was talking about. It has beens some time that I did one. The ones that I did were small carbs. Not good for much. What did your carb come off of?

K18FR
I have no idea what it is designed to fit.
This is a new carb.and was free,I just figured
one of the folks here may have “uncorked” these
before. It is tight. I grabbed it with pliers, and was
afraid of twisting it off.
Thanks

Some of the small carbs , the little plastic limit devise will pull right off with a needle nose pliers. Under that is a slot already for adjustment. Best Regards, Capt,n

I have one of these too on a homelite 25cc blower engine, it looks like a needle without a slot, but it's pressed in place it seems, I grabbed mine with pliers and it didn't move... seems to be some sort of preset high speed needle...

Buy a new "old" carb with proper adjustment needles, and charge it to the EPA.... []

if it was given to you, it's not a whole waste, keep it around for the diaphram and gaskets, since they'll fit virtually every other walbro weedeater carb...

rangerfredbob,

Sounds like you have the same thing.
3/4" long aluminum plug. No plastic limit devices here.

For ships and giggles, I'll take the carb apart, then heat the peg with a pencil torch
just to see whats behind the darn thing ... :-)

Thanks

I ran the homelite that this carb is on, and it doesn't run well, but I think the metering lever is bent, I can either get it to run at idle or high rpm in the blower it's in, not both, it dies out doing any transition... but the one needle is over 2 turns out, so I'll bend the metering lever and try again tomorrow or something, if all else fails, I'll just rip the thing apart and throw the carb in the pile of other walbro's I have, this one isn't all that useful for RC use as it has detents for idle mid and full throttle.

Hey the carb has a fixed high main jet with an adjustable low. the idea was to be able to add some on the low side to compensate a little for the high (very little). As has been pointed out find a 2 needle carb, I doubt it will meter enough fuel for gas glow.
