Meet my brother....

He has his conversion engines on a workbench. I told him it wouldn't fly... He just said "Well then let's put another engine in the middle!!" :D

AV8TOR, your brother looks like a nice guy. I hope the fumes did not get to him from the running engines. Or did you have to drag him out of there!:D:D

Actually, we did put another engine in the middle of those two. A Homelite 30cc. But we didn't get pictures, and the damn workbench still wouldn't fly..... ;)

Yep, had to watch those fumes, even with the garage door open. We only ran them for a short time for testing and a quick dial in of the needle settings.

I have converted a Poulan 42 cc chainsaw engine, and am thinking of building a Bulsa USA 1/3 scale pup, to put it into. The engine is a little heavy at 5lbs, and is too difficult to start by hand or with an electric starter! Should I go to a CH ignition with advance spark? Or a gas glow conversion and will the gas glow start by hand? And will this engine be powerful enough for a 1/3 pup? The engine runs great idles at 1700rpm and turns a ma 20x8 at 7700rpm!

i would love a biplane as my next endeavor. I have a 31CC ryobi for the conversion. I was thinking of this plane. Anyone have any insight on whether this would work??

Anybody could please tell me where and how to get a BRIGGS & STRATTON engine, aircraft-conversed 40cc.
I've found in e-bay an ad selling the "34 cc" but I need, at list, the 40cc or more.
Thankyou from Spain.

B&S are 4 stroke lawn mower engines they are too heavy for a rc plane 40 cc look for a chain saw engine or better yet crrc engines from China you can pick one up for 200 $ you will spend that on a converting a chain saw engine

RE: What do you have your conversion in???

Sorry, not correct. Briggs and Stratton also makes some smaller four strokes that have been successfully converted and used on airplanes. Do a search here in the forum.

Tantel is referring to the Briggs Fource 34cc and 40cc weedeater engines.

I have not seen any of the 40cc advertised recently. Have you thought about a Honda GX35 or a Fuji 35cc instead? Both are more expensive than the Briggs but produce more power. The Fuji is found in Robin and Makita strimmers in Europe.

Conversion parts for the Honda are available form Carr Precision, not sure about the Fuji any more.

I have the Briggs 34cc, Honda and Fuji converted for aircraft use so if you wish to see photos send me your email.

If you want more than 40cc, there is the Stihl 65cc that Ralph Cunningham and others have converted for aircraft use.

You will find information on all these conversions on RCU - just do a search for each name.

RE: What do you have your conversion in???

Yes there are some small 4 strokes for edge trimmers they have been converted but they are still heavy. My brother has a os 160 4 stroke twin converted to spark and runing on naptha and 10% glow fuel. I have converted a 42cc pulan chansaw engine not an eazy conversion, also have converted a 25cc homelite trimmer and a ryobi 28cc. i am going to convert a 31cc for a giant stick I will build in the winter. i guess if you are looking for a 4 stroke sound but you won't find anything over a 30cc, not until they convert chainsaws. If you are interested this is my video of a ultraspadstick with a 28cc ryobi converted i made allmost everything my self from my broken edge trimmer. Most of the money was spent from wacker engines for parts for the conversion hear is the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1dHMmcR92o enjoy
