KIORITZ SRM401
I just got an engine out of KIORITZ SRM401 brushcutter. Couldnt locate that model on the KIORITZ/ECHO website. The engine is very good, about 40cc, flywheel on the front with clutch can be totally removed and the magneto is on the back. The only problem I see is that it has contact breaker type of ignition instead of usual breakerless version. Will it cause interference with radio? Any one has any suggestions/experience? Thanks.

RE: KIORITZ SRM401
Older Quadra 35s had points with no ign. problems over electronic ign. Just use the same precautions. Radio a foot way from the motor, etc. Make sure you use a resistor plug in it. Points ign. engines are usually easier to hand start than the mag electronic ign. as they have better spark at cranking speed. Hope this helps.

The old style Zenoah G23's were points ignition, I'm still flying a couple of them with no problem.

Thanks Antique and Flypaper 2.
How long the points last. I remember in my old car I use to change the point and condenser every 10,000 miles. -ZM |
RE: KIORITZ SRM401
Hard figure to nail down, but I would guess, 4 or 5 yrs. As an alternative, there is a small module you can get to convert to electronic ign called Little atom, or Mighty atom, forget exact name now, from a saw shop. Sold many when points became unavailable for many saws, when I had the small motor shop.

RE: KIORITZ SRM401
The points in my old Zenoahs are the orginals, must be at least 10 years old. The points in these engines will last a long time if the capacitor is is good.
