Nice repair, I am still learning how to fly the HBFP, what size sewing needle did you use, they come in alot of different thicknesses.

I have not been able to really fly it yet, I have been practicing in my garage, but I am going to switch to outside on calm days, I am hitting to many walls and it is costing way more than I paid for the heli in parts and shipping.

any advice in flying it, I heard give it a little more power when it starts to go off to one side and correct, I am also putting more time on the sim.

I just bought a Thunder Power Pro Lite 910mAh 7.4V 2S, Having two batteries should help my learn a little faster.

Thanks for the tip with the sewing needle.

ring like pushrod is repairable...

if u have 2 bad ones like broken ring on each end

super glue both of them with good ends 'out' on each let dry

cut the bad ends and now u have a useable ring like pushrod

btw i only use one of those on my HBFP no need to have 2 ring like pushrods at all

also i reinforce the paddle control frame w/c breaks all the time

here's how its done..

That is an AWESOME fix for the paddle control frame, thanks

Thanks for that Kamov. I was actually doing that with the ring likes.

I have been using small copper wire to replace the ring like push rods. i just stripped the insulation off a piece of wire and use three or four strands and wrapped the around where the rods would go. i left one of the broken push rods on to make sure i got the angle right then wrapped them. it has kept me flying during my wait. and i havnt broken the balls off the rotor head yet, the wire deforms before breaking them. I will be adding pins to my new paddle frame, great idea!

The name fits!! Why are we all doing HBFP stuff when the Compy is where all the ideas come from? I've seen threads for a super Conpy. There must be something to it.

You guys jinked me, now I'm going to have to utilize this repair. I have never broken
the small ball off the control frame until today. What's the odds?

Was there a special tool used to drive the needle through the frame?

Thanks for the tip.

yes there is its called a pin vise....any LHS should have this...if they don''t have them order it for you from their supplier or just order online

this is normally what i do if LHS does not have something that i have...as it SAVES me money on shipping i just pay the item amount..
also another trick is if you need a part/s go to Horizon Hobby website and if you find the item that you want print it w/ price showing and show to LHS and they will sell it to you at that price otherwise if you don''t they will add/mark up the price as they normally do. any way back to the subject !! pin vise
here''s more pics

the last one w/ wood handle is my favorite the middle one i use w/ my cordless drill the firts one also avail at harbor freight and Sears

Pick one up at the LHS or Calif Hobby .. they had some in stock last time I checked.
I got the Testors pin vice.. http://www.testors.com/catalog_item.asp?itemNbr=1173

Since I did the sewing pin mod I haven''t broken the ball...

Kamov... Like the idea about price check (printout) and take it to the LHS... Going to use that idea!

I saw this website posted for upgraded parts, its a aluminum paddle control frame, I do not own one but may get one in the near future.

http://www.xtremecx2.com/servlet/the...tch/Categories

If anyone knows of any more metal upgrades for the HBFP, or any parts that are interchangable from other heli''s please let me know.

Thanks

Something needs to be done with the center hub, it really should be stronger.

Hey RK,
I have a HB FP and The King 2 I can fly the FP no problem but the King2 is so freaking sensitive I have a hard time just holding a hover. How can i use my Futaba 7cap?
I switched out the RX crystal to my 7Cap channel and the heli just freaked out like it was getting glitched bad. Also any idea how to make the heli a lot less sensitive if I can not use my 7cap?
Thanks
Scott

There is a place/person making metal center hubs. There are so many threads on so many forums that it's hard to keep track of where I saw it. There was even a discussion on whether it was CNC machined or cast.
I've recently broken a flybar and have tried a coat hanger. The wire diameter is slightly larger, so, I used a .093" or 42 drill to up the hole size in all of the parts the flybar goes through. I'll have to see how that works out.
If you make all of the top pieces metal, what becomes the weak link? Will it truly become more robust or will we start bending the center shaft?!!

You are correct there needs to be a weakest link or two, It would be nice if they were cheap parts. Please post if you see that metal center hub again.

Thanks

that actually is a really bad thing to get, put that on your heli and get ready to replace center hubs after every crash, I'll take a $1.50 parts that breaks over a $6-9 (center hub, which are always out of stock)part anyday

I gotta agree with you there, and has anyone ever thought that maybe the reason they didnt make them stronger IS because they know the hubs would break next?
anything u buy is gonna have a part go out at some point, and if you can make something that has a $1.50 part go out that helps save a $7 or $8 dollar part, then ur better off selling it like that and not trying to make the reapirs later down the road alot more expensive

had some very cool high speed banked corners going outside at the park earlier, very good even with some slight wind as long as its moving forwards its ok, at least till you fly in front of the sun [X(] then I crashed hard, seems to me someone else had that problem a few months ago, can't remember who though.

What about the solid center hubs from GWS? Could you combine a solid center hub with this metal stuff and have something worthwhile? Like I said, that skinny center hub may be the next weak link. If you spent all that money for the metal parts with the metal tooling balls, how good are the tooling balls? I'm assuming that screw in or maybe they're pressed in. Are they replaceable just in case?

Where did you get the tiny little drill bit to do this? I've got a set of Starrett pin vises, so, I put the ball in one and thought maybe I could use the pin itself to push through - ng. My drill bits only go down to about .040" and the pins I have are only .025".

Well time for Super FP to be built, this is gonna be cool, I'm gonna order a new 3900 brushless for my HBK II and I alreay ordered a new ESC for it too, so I'm gonna take my 3100 /ESC on my King II now, put that on my new Fiber Frame I bought, with the 6ch Rx from either my King II or Belt CP (both getting AR6100's), the crystal from my HBFP Rx and the rate gyro from my Belt CP and the parts from my crashed HBFP and turn them into SUPER HBFP

not sure if he still sells them in ebay.

i got the xtreme-production paddle control frame and swashplate and awaiting shipment from krs

i did not get the rotor head.
