I have this mental picture of the tumble weeds rolling down the main street of the once proud, bustling and busy main street that was once this forum ...... I guess noting lasts forever.

No tumble weeds here, just about 3 feet of snow on the ground, and a cold, mean wind in the air too. No way to do anything but fly the 3 inch (Air Hogs like, but actually very manuverable in tight spaces - I flew it for minutes at a time inside the cruise ship cabin on the Disney cruise we took the kids on this Fall) "Silver Bullet" ( http://www.brookstone.com/mini-remot...licopters.html ) or the flight sim (ClearView!) for a few more months!

Just ordered a bunch of upgrades from Michael (U.S. Hobby Supply) for the Belt CPv1 I got from him last Fall. New gyro and tail servo (Logictech 2100T combo), ESC, Spektrum Rx, 2100mah high-discharge Li-Po, and the usual assortment of spare blades and tail booms. Getting all that set up should keep me occupied until flying weather is here once again!

Cheers,
Dave

Afternoon Guys:
I am still out here, no show but the coldest winter we have had in 20 years. It isalso very windy so flying is limited.
Dave and Phillytry the Fiberglass blades that M sells I absolutly love them they seem to respond like CF blades but only 6.99 a set. https://www.ushobbysupply.com/produc...oducts_id=1013
These are all I fly now.

Great to know about the blades Ron - I had already ordered two sets, since M was out of the plastic ones. Never had good luck wiith wooden blades - as many things as I bump into! I wonder if I can spray paint them to match the rest of the heli? Anyone ever tried that with blades?

I'm sorry to hear that your normally perfect climate is being hit with this weather too. We are supposed to get 3 to 5 more inches of snow tomorrow - on top of the 3 feet or so we already have laying on the ground. This area set a new record this year for total snow fall - shattering the old record from over 100 years ago, and the snow hasn't even stopped falling yet. In the past 15 years, we haven't gotten nearly as much snow as I remember growing up here - but not this year... Crazy weather!

Cheers,
Dave

On Friday there was 49 states with snow on the ground including here in Middle Georgia. Snow here is just about gone now. Have to wonder they keep talking about globe warming and you sure could not tell it by this winter.

Dave
the Fiberglass blades have a High Gloss Finish, and can be painted, just use Steel Wool to rough them up first, I havepainted blades before, not a problem,
You can use any paint you wishon the Fiberglass blades at they areaGel-Coate finish. I have a decent air brush and use lacquer with a clear coat..

Hi PhillyD!

I love the LogicTech 2100T gyro and digital serve from this combo pack: https://www.ushobbysupply.com/produc...roducts_id=509 (Sorry - currently out of stock after I got the last one). Easy to set up, and then super quick tail response - a huge improvement over the only other gyro I ever tried to fly with - the stock Esky non-heading hold gyro. I followed this excellent set up procedure for my first one, on the HBK2: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=670786

The 1800mah batteries I have for the HBK2 and the 2100mah battery I just got for the Belt CP (all 20C) are Esky batteries with beefy Dean's connectors. (At least the 1800mah ones came with Dean's connectors if I recall, I may have to replace the 2100mah connector this way). Not the cheapest ($40 -$44), but solid and reliable performers, with the excellent Align charger ( https://www.ushobbysupply.com/produc...roducts_id=403 ). I've never tried to push them past 6 minutes or so with the HBK2 - since I usually need a break by then too!

This is a picture of the snow that was falling last (not this) weekend. We're supposed to get another 3 inches today, which will be nothing after the two 2 foot storms we had last week (most of it still on the ground with icey streets). Please send some of your sun shine up North!

Enjoy!
Dave

Nice Dave
I am happy you are having luck with the logic gyro. I never used it paired with the servo.

Real nice picturesque scen on the snow; well coming from somone who doesn't have to deal with it.
Cheers

Hello all!

I've been away for a while, but I just had to post a pic of my Belt CP V1 with my new EC-135 fuselage. This thing is HUGE, almost the size of my TREX 500!! Scale flying is so realistic that I may not ever do 3D. You all helped me tremendously during my "break-in" phase with my Belt CP, and I appreciate it. Tell me what you think of it!!!

Just out of curiosity, how is your tail authority with the cowling on?

Looks great. Is that a Heli Artist Fuselage? If so they are now selling a Duct Fan tail rotor for it.

Thanks for all the positive comments!!! Yes, it is BIG, tail control is good, and it flies big! Here is a pic of my collective fleet (TREX 500, Belt CP, and TREX 450 V2). Not to brag, but I'm proud that I built each bird from scratch (ordered kits) - each fly a little different than the other, so I'm careful not to try something out of the ordinary when I fly. As you can see in the last pic, the Belt EC-135 fuselage dwarfts the TREX airwolf fuselage!!!

I ordered it from XHeli. Cost is $49.95. They have a wide selection of fuselages for 450 and 500 helos. That duct fan is cool!!!!!! A lot of money for that part, but if you want realism, that's the part!!

I have a DX6i, so the gyro settings should be the same. As you know, anything above 50% is considered head holding mode - below 50% is rate mode. I have Telebee's on both my Esky Belt CP and my TREX 450 V2, and my tx is set at 70%. Btwn 70 and 75%, you should be good to go. If not, adjust accordingly. Good luck! BTW, I'm retired Navy. Are you still Active duty?

Hope you got it worked out by now, I think the problems is not much DX 7's around here.

I wonder what everybody else is flying or driving now, as they seem to have gravitated away from the belt
