Default USHS HBKv3 Tuner Thread

I wanted to start this thread to help all those individuals that have recently gotten the new HBKv3's. While pretty close to the HBK2, it does offer some new parts and is, in many ways, different than the HBK2.
Some of the new additions:

* Brushless direct from the factory. No more darn brushless motor
* HH gyro standard. Finally, a very good gyro from the factory
* New style frame
* new feathering shafts
* shares the main shaft with the BeltCP v2
* New style main gear
* many, many more changes.

Please feel free to post your questions and your answers to this new and exciting heli from ESKY!

Heck, lets also discuss HBK2 issues

But I don't have a V3, more like a V7 if you count all of my upgrades!

I hope most of the HBK2 third-party upgrades will still work OK on the V3 - since the large number of these, and their wide availability, was always an advantage for using the King2 as an entry level helicopter...

Cheers,
Dave

Just purchased a HoneyBee King 3 today. I will tell you guys what I think once i get to fly it. I really enjoyed my Honey bee King II so I think I will like this one even more. It seems that alot of the issues were addressed in the #3 version. I read in rc groups that the tail pully is 40t up front and 9t in the tail.

Just got my King3 in today. Batteries were balance out of the box. Charged it up and hovered around my living room. Too windy outside but hope to get some flying time on it tomorrow. The King3 appears larger than the King 2. The canopy is larger and also has a thicker tail boom. Transmitter has a gain knob on it. The tail felt strong. Better gearing than the King2. Powerful motor and 1500 lipo.

Wow, that's fast delivery all the way out in the Pacific! Great pics also!. You are right, the king3 has a much better tail setup than the king2, along with stock brushless setup and hh gyro, its a winning combination.

Hi Chaser 2440
USHOBBY Supply has a good selection of blades from wood to plastic.(I thinks the extreme blades are on sale also) I heard plastic is much more durable but not recomended for 3D. I bought two pair because I only do mellow loops and the a role once in a while.

Flew the King 3 a few times last night in the living room. Feels powerful and has good rudder authority compaired to the KingII with the stock tail.
Dont think I will be able to fly today due to the 20 mph plus winds and rain outside.

I am just getting back into Heli's after about a year off so I am a litttle rusty with all the tuning.
I have a couple of questions.
The king 3 does seem a little tail heavy with the supplied battery. When I pick it up at the fly bar it rocks back. Is this the corect way to cg it?
I was also wondering if the motor is the same as the 3900kv?
Thnks Doug

Balance should be Level for any heli, You may need to slide the battery forward or add a small amount of
weight to the inside of the canopy as far forward as you can stick the weight.

As for blades Michael is checking blade grip opening to make sure what will fit.
However since you have a HBK2 and a King 3 you can let all of us know if the HDK2 blades fit onto the King 3.

Here is a link to the plastic blades the t were mentioned. I use the longer version on my Belt CP.

Yes the blades are the same in every way except the sticker. The tail is also the same size.

Had a little more time to look over the King 3 and compare it to my King II. Everything has been redesigned except for the main rotor blade. They look to be the same as the KingII. The conections on the head are nicer, some aluminuim pieces and metal screws and ball and the frame is solid. Of course all the electronics are an improvement too. Digital servos and a HH gyro that I can control from the radio. The motor on the King3 has a 10 tooth pinion. I beleive the motor is a 3900kv.
I really like this size heli. It seems to be the size I feel most comfortable flying at my skill level and I can buy several batteries for the price one for my swift.

From the part #'s, it is the 3900kv motor that comes standard

The remote gain on the tx for the hh gyro is a BIG plus!

Just a couple of quick observations. Check that all your screws are tight. I noticed one of servos screws were loose allowing one of the head servos to move. Also zip tigh the wires to the frame. I let mine dangle in the breeze and the rubbed against the main gear.
Also had a question about the tail horizontal and vertical stabalizers. They are one solid piece unlike the HBKII. Does this have an effect on the tail wanting to drift slowly to the left? I was thinking about cuting holes in the stabs or maybe making new ones and try and lighten the tail up a little. Battery realy needs to be put as far forward as possible to get the King to balance properly.

Oh wow The HBK3 sounds great. I kind of want to get one now that USHobby supply is going to get some. Would be a good step up from the HoneyBee CP2 and would be nice to have a 2nd Heli for when one of them is broken (aka right now) By the way those Plastic blades you gave me for my CP2 are great... I heated them up, sanded them down and they are like new.

Made a couple of mods to the tail. I had some scrap carbon panel laying around so I made new stabs. They are lighter than the stock ones.
Also wanted to say that when testing some different blades I noticed that the holes in the blade of the King3 are slightly larger than the holes in the HBKII.

The King 3 hovers rock solid compared to my KingII. I am not sure why but the King II seems to bounce a little while in a hover. I tried switching from plastic to wood blades but it does not seem to make any difference. Anyone have any ideas of why this happens. I was thinking it may be the conections in the King II head are plastic on plastic?

It could be that your links are starting to get worn out. a little slop here or there will produce bounce. Also, loose servo gears and horns can cause this on your HBK2

Can I upgrade the tail on my HBK2's using the new tail slider with the pivoting linkage from the HBK3(EK1-0408?)? What a boon that would be! If it is a simple one part swap better stock up on those sliders.

Bigbore:

Yes you can convert the tail to a V-3 tail control. You need both parts, the Slider and the Control arm. The Slider is available but the contril arm dose not seem to be availabel from anyone yet.
