speed controll 30A
I bought the 30A speed controller from HobbyPartz.com. I connected with Esky King 3 with 3100 RPM motor. The motor seems not spinning properly, and the speed controller get warmer. Is the speed controller doesn't have enough amp to power the motor, or is it already damaged?

RE: speed controll 30A
Try setting the throttle range as the esc`s manual says.
This esc may get warmer than the other you had. They cannot be the same if they are a different make. That`s normal, as long as it does not get too hot.
Also try setting the timing mode to medium, if it has such a programmable setting.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking the batteries may not have enough higher discharge rating. All my batteries are 20C. Is that enough to power the speed controller and motor?

RE: speed controll 30A
You`re welcome.
As long as the batteries last as they should be then you have no problem. They are in a good condition.
Now the discharge rating is not so important. What I mean... It`s just a sticker...
Sure there are different qualities in batteries, but 20C is a typical discharge rate and the one you should have.
Now a King 3 has a 3900KV motor, the EK5-0005. And not a 3100KV.
This may be the problem you have.
Both to the esc temp and to the battery.
At least you should see if the pinion you have is the correct one. Maybe you should try one tooth more than the stock 3900KVmotor has.
I think it has a 10T pinion on the 3900KV, so you can try a 11T pinion on the 3100KV.
Still it will get a bit warm, depending on the flying style.

RE: speed controll 30A
There is odd relationship with Hobbywing 30A ESC and Esky Motors.

RE: speed controll 30A
Ihave two EK5-0004 (3100KV)motors and two Hobbywing Pentium 30A esc and they work just fine.
I didn`t know you have those, anyway.
See again what Ihave said about setting the throttle range and the rest of the programmable settings (through the Tx).
