RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
Thanks Guys.
In that case I'll need to stock up on wood blades and stock feathering shafts. I assume the 5 & 10 pack deals are E-Sky OEM equipment? The fine print says "- Suitable for ESky Honey Bee King II, Honey Bee King" So I'm not 100% that they are original stock. Dave D. |
RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
Probably not, but the specs are all the same and they're shrink-wrapped in plastic. Length and thickness at the grip is most important at our stage of the game. I believe OEM blades come with blue and red tracking tape.

RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
Here is a great place to stock up on wood blades and soft feathering shafts:
http://www.rc711.com/shop/product_in...roducts_id=428 http://www.rc711.com/shop/product_in...roducts_id=477 and http://www.rc711.com/shop/product_in...products_id=92 OEM parts at a good price. Shipping is not bad if you accept a longer wait, but we are talking for stocking up... |
RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
I really wish they made aftermarket parts in some other color besides purple. Jeez...that's just plain FUGLY. Can't go wrong with clear or black.

RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
Does anybody have any experience setting up a King 2 with a JR XP8103 radio? The closest info I can find is for the DX-6/7. It seems like this is close enough to at least be in the parking lot of the ball park, but if anyone has actual settings from the 8103, I'd be most appreciative for the info.
Thanks all and "Heli New Year!" |

RUSTY ROBERTSON:
Here is a short video of the HBK 2 that you set up for me, with the CNC gear and the roller guides for the belts..... now FLYING IN HOUSTON, Dec.29 at the end of the tape you can see that the WHITE heli has developed SHAKES...................excuse the PRIMITIVE FLYING, but I was off heli practice for 2 months or so. Can you PLEASE tell me how that is fixed ? The third BOX with the BARES BONES is not yet RECEIVED ! please look into that YOUR PHONE NOW IS DISCONNECTED AND i CAN'T REACH YOU ANY OTHER WAY RICHARD BARR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bJTctUKwTc |
RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
Barrick looks like your getting bad tail bob. Usually caused by the rubber O rings that hold the feathering shaft getting hard as the heli gets cold. What temperature are you flying at outside. It just a guess but I bet that is it. If you take the heli inside and warm it up does it go away. I know crashcrash has mentioned opening up the O rings with a dremel alittle for cold weather flying. Also you will learn that the tail belt will shrink in cold weather causing the tail to lose power and may need to be loosened alittle in flight. I never fly when it is under 35 degree's out also because the plastic parts on these helis get really brittle if they get under freezeing temps. Hope that helps some.

RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
The pilot is wearing a big heavy coat, while the kids on bikes are in shorts and t-shirts. The dog has no sweater on, so i'm not sure how cold it is there. hehehe
Definite tail bob though. Orings first, Belt tension and not slipping over idler bearing second Blade balance and feather shaft straightness third. Michael |
RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
My whole family watched the video and made their comments.
My wife said she thinks it's time for us to pave our driveway, and the cars should slow down when kids are riding their bikes in the street. My 13 year old son thinks airsoft would stop the dogs from barking. My 18 year old daughter said sandals with a heavy coat are a fashion no-no. I don't think that any of their comments will help much with the heli's performance (well, may the sandals thing, but I don't know). I think all the previous suggestions should be looked into, and also check all the ball/link connections on the head (see if something is off), try lowering the gyro gain, and make sure the tail rotor shaft isn't bent. |

I actually took the bushing out of the stock brushed motor and ground it to half it's original thickness, and used that as a spacer for the belt guide roller. I figured since it came with the heli and I just ordered a brushless setup, I might as well use the parts from the stock motor that I could, I only got 4 batteries out of it before it dumpped on me.

How long is the shipping? I found the rotor blade 6 packs cheaper after you calculate the shipping charges! FWIW: This same vendor has the standard Esky 8g servos (6packs=$21)! LOL... almost cheaper to use a new servo instead of rebuilding a gear set!!! |
RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and I see by reading the threads some had a Very Merry Christmas with new choppers. Well I wanted to upgrade the head to CNC but didn't want to go with the ESKY stuff. So here's a couple of pics of what I came up with. It's the head from the Chopper-X. The complete head was 53 bucks. When I ordered it I didn't think that the anti-rotation tang is incorporated with the elevator so you can see my proto type solution to that. Now that I know it works I'll make a new one and paint it black. So far it's flying great. Besides making the anti-rotation bracket I used the stock Esky main shaft as the one it comes with is a bit shorter. Since I'm using the Trex tail I put the new Esky pulley on to speed up the tail which also works great. The next mod is an aluminum battery holder. Ya, I know it's a lot of blue but after 26 years in the USAF blue kind of gets in your blood.:D You all have a Happy New Year and be safe out there.

RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
If you Please!
I would like to know how/if the "C" rating of different Li-Po's effect the rotor blades' tracking? I am running a 3900/9t setup and using 2 different batteries. 1-CS1650/10c and 2-Falcon 3d 1300/15c(?). It seems that I am chasing the blade tracking as I change batteries. Using the 1300's I seem to be able to track within 1-2mm depending on the strenght of the battery. I am pretty satisfied with that performance. Unfortunately, the brass 9t just simply wore out after many flights and I had to substitute a 10t brass pinion that I had on hand while waiting for a replacement. I understand the higher HS would likely throw off the tracking (???) but I sure would like to hear about the experience of more verteran fliers so I could understand this better and get more consistant performance from my heli. Thanks for your input. |
RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
If something in the head is loose/has some slop in it then the tracking can change as the stress on it changes. Higher head speed, though, can also magnify tracking errors that were there at the lower HS, but not large enough to bother you.

RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
Well,I figured for the price,I couldn't go too wrong,I just ordered that EXI 450,for 99 bux.I'll let ya'll know what it looks like as soon as I get it.

Add....if the bladegrips are too tight, this will affect being able to correctly track the blades. In the case of 10C/15C, yeah there will be a difference but if every thing is cool on one battery, it shouldn't be off but a very little with the other battery (been there and seen that). Headspeeds, blade grips, feathering shafts, it all comes into play here. Finally, I just gave up on 10C...running all 1500mAh 15C's in both birds. BTW the EXI 450.....very nice! |
RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
i just put together an arf king v2 i got for christmas and i cannot get the blades to track. they took a LOT of tape to balance and im not suprised that they cannot track... i swapped out the dampers with align trex ones and it seemed to help a little bit.
so my question is, has anyone replaced the hard link from the mixer arm to the blade grip with a threaded rod and end links..? if so, which did ya use?? its all i need to get them spot on tracking.. |
