Typical on site storage was in a replica WW-I hanger. It was 3 bays wide. The museum staff moved most airplanes out so we could use each night.
First pic shows Allen's 1/2 scale Blackburn over 1/3 scale birds.
Last pic: Thats a full scale replicas Dr.1 in the back corner. Note Keith's Jenny look just as big!

There were two, other 1/4 scale Jenny' ARF by Maxford. One pictured is from a pilot who also flew at WOD.
My flying buddies, Bob Bailey Has 104” Wing Span, G-45 with spring starter. Life is good!
if you want easy relaxed flying, this is the plane for you and should be under the Christmas tree, hint, hint.
Also check out the detail in Pert's 1/4 SE-5a.

HPA, finally getting to,your planes. No event would be complete without this man, Paul. His wife, Michelle and Barry and Gary packed up the Black "Ohio Dawn Patrol" trailer and headed east. We appreciate your commitment and bringing the ODP gang, especially right after Dayton. Need to tell Winterhawk and Sir Percy they missed a great event!
I have always loved this D-VII paint scheme.

As mentioned earlier, The “Best Central Powers” was awarded to Mike Gross for his new Fokker Dr.1 Triplane. Built from a stock GTM kit, but with impeccable detail and attention to detail including full cockpit with moving stick and wind anemometer on the struts. At 1/3 scale it had a 94.5'' wing span and a DLE 111cc twin engine. Pics back on post 49.
please see the Model Aiplane news WRAM article for up close details.

Mike is a three time MAD Patrol winner now and also flew his past winning 1/3 Sopwith Camel “Wonga Bonga” and hails from New York’s Long Island area. Soon he will be wearing all of these medals from a camel pilot.

Saturday night included a steak dinner and awards ceremony within the Museums main Navy hanger.
Scott Vickery led off the evening with Glenn Torrance our Co-Event and Primary Sponsor explaining the three trophies to be presented. Only model airplanes that flew would make the final cut and the three winners were magnificent!
The “Best of Show” this year went to Gotz Vogelsang with his 40% Eindecker that is a brand new imported kit. Gotz flew this wing warping beauty with ease. The pilot moves the control stick as the control surfaces move. Just a great flying and fun model. A super job Gotz, congrats.

Not only did Glenn Torrance sponsor all 3 trophies, but included $300 for Best of show, and $200 apiece for best Allied and best Central powers. What great support to our hobby.
Additionally in honor of 100th anniversary, Scott Vickery (event Cord) designed and made a cherry spire and oak based trophy. Complete with brass work from Glenn and its a functional lamp and storage area in the base ( lined cedar) Very classy guys.
Gotz we want to see it on display in your family room!

As we wrap up pics: here are some transition pics. A full scale stearman and two great models.
The museum also has a full scale replica P-26 Pea Shooter. America's first metal wing fighter.
The Ryan: was the original Nick Ziroli prototype and had a q-75 and a very special recording of Jimmy Stewart saying " which way to Ireland". So cool.

1: You come for Scott, Jim, Mike...there hospitality is second to none. (thanks again Jim)
2: You come because all of your flying buddies are going to be there.
3: You come down to fly with some real works of art.
4: How about the hanger full of full-scale WWI planes flying all weekend!
5: Overnight storage in a real hanger.....real nice!
6: Oh did I forget to mention that you are at Virginia beach!
These are some of the top reasons I will be there next year and Gotz said I need to step up my game next year too
Thanks for all the pics and write ups.....

HPA, those reasons are great. That's why we will make ODP, LIDP, SDP also in 2015.
We all will need to step up our game? Maybe a Camel with this paint scheme.
I found Pups also used your method to repair tail skids or elevators! Actually this one was caught by a freak windstorm and I almost painted mine like it. These Naval 3 Pups were actually first Black flight and included Black Tulip.
Udet1918, thanks for the corrections and pilot names. I saw a picture of a Pfalz but can't find it. But I add an Eindecker with diff features. Also found one with 3 spaundau's
