Warbirds & Classics In Irvine - Scale Squadron of SoCA 9th Annual Fly-In June 5-7 201
June 5 to 7, 2015
For 8 years the Scale Squadron has organized a scale fly-in. And we're doing it again!!!! Our 9th Anniversary!
This year's theme is Warbirds & Classics! The club is one again hosting a spectacular scale event with lots of fun, lots of great flying, lots of great airplanes, all in a beautiful setting.
For the FIRST TIME, the event (known to some as our "June Event") will happen at a NEW location! OCMA's Bob Swenson Memorial Field in Blackstarr Canyon. Next to Irvine Lake, this is a hidden gem of a flying field in Orange County, CA.
Obviously the club members are proud to have 8 years of success and are working hard to again have a great event.
Pre Register at RCFlightDeck.com to ensure your space, campsite, banquet ticket, and event shirt! All available after pre-reg 1st come 1st serve. Note that the website also includes a map and links to driving directions, etc.
Some details:
1. The field is very nice 600 foot run and is already a popular spot for modelers in the OC/Irvine Area. It's normally closed to spectators but this event is open to anyone with a scale R/C plane, an AMA Card, and the ability and desire to FLY!
2. There is camping (dry) just off-site (near the gate to enter the facility. So, if you want to drive in a camp, there's a spot for a nominal charge.
3. Our Saturday Night Banquet has always been a success. This year, it's in a park setting at a banquet/party facility within a mile of the flying field. Professionally catered it will be a fun evening with some great food. And, it's your chance to meet and talk with Col Robert Thacker. Full-size Aviation record holder, long-time jet ethusiast (both R/C and full-size) and an AMA Hall Of Fame member, Col Thacker will be there to answer questions and do what he does best, talk about airplanes and flying of all types!
4. As a scale model enthusiast, you'll be in an environment of like-minded modelers all flying and sharing their passion for scale modeling.
This event is open to the public, it's free to spectators so even if your scale airplane is not ready, come on out and share in the fun.
