Default Top Of TexasTop Gun Shootout Contest!!!!

Ok guys we are having a contest at the Amarillo A.R.K.S club on June 20th. Entry fee is $20 and winner takes all (entry fee's will make up first place payout). Here are the rules.

2nd Annual
Top Gun Shootout Championships
Date: July 30th 2016
Location: Amarillo ARKS flying site
Qualifications: Pilots, Current AMA license required.
Planes: Gasoline or Nitro only
Rules: Must fly the same plane in all events unless primary plane is damaged beyond reasonable repair, then a backup plane may be used (CD and safety officer will have final decision). All contestants will be given a list of all possible events that will be drawn from. Each event will be drawn prior to the start of the event. All event supplies will be available, all preparations for the possible events will be made in advance. All events will require high power to weight ratio .40 size and larger aircraft. Most events will be designed to be fast paced and very competitive requiring skill and nerves of steel. There will be no restarts or mulligans allowed.
* Timed event - Three of a Kind: 3 rolls – 3 loops – 3 turn idle power nose down spin (engine must be at idle and nose must be below 45 degrees before spin will be counted). Plane must do touch and go and perform the same maneuvers for a second time. Time starts when plane crosses start/finish line, time stops when plane crosses start /finish line (plane must be on the ground and cannot leave the ground after crossing the line again) Stopping in the designated landing zone will be a (7 sec) time deduct. Departure and approach direction will be determined by the CD and will be strictly enforced. Lowest time wins
* Timed event - Precision Two Minute Touch & Go with a Twist: There will be a designated landing zone (all touch & go’s must be inside this zone) Here is the twist there will be two pylons that cannot be cut. Time starts when plane crosses designated line, plane must perform 1 loop before turning the first pylon and 1 roll before turning the second pylon then touch-go in the zone; repeat the process until time is called. (only complete circuits are counted) highest number of touch & go’s wins
* Timed event- Fly for Reno Gold: This is a Pylon type event with added elements. Time starts when Plane crosses start/finish line (plane holder required) (CD will determine number of laps before event starts) plane becomes airborne then makes turn 1 and must perform three roll's before turn 2 the front stretch is straight and wide open; this is repeated until designated laps are completed and plane passes start/finish line airborne and wide open but time does not stop until plane is stopped inside designated landing zone (departure and approach direction as determined by CD) lowest time wins
* Timed event- Limbo Lightning: Set limbo streamer at 4', Most passes under limbo in one minute wins, cut streamer’s, hit pole or touch runway time and count stops.
* Points event- Bomb Drop: There will be targets on the runway (pilots must be in pilot stand) highest score wins.
* Points event- Bomb Drop Black Jack: Pilot will have three drops (no mulligans) there will be card numbers marked on the runway. Best blackjack hand without busting will win. (pilot position will be determined by CD) ties to be flown off for highest card.
* Timed event- Bomb Drop Putt: Time starts when plane passes start/finish line, bomb is dropped as close to the marked pin as possible then plane is landed (plane must be inside designated zone with engine off before putter can be obtained to putt ball into cup, time stops when ball is in cup. Lowest time wins.
* Timed event- Yo Yo Limbo: CD will determine the height of the limbo line, there will be two pylons that must be flown around (you can go wide but cannot cut pylons). Time starts when plane passes start/finish line, pilot then flies around each pylon then goes under the line (without cutting line, touching the ground or going over the line) pilot must complete five qualifying laps. (if lap is DQ then that lap must be flown again) When passing under the line on the final lap then plane must pass the nogo zone, be landed and stopped inside designated landing zone for time to stop. Inverted pass counts for a 5 sec time deduct. Lowest time wins.
* Not timed – Top Gun Limbo: This is simple the lowest pass wins, you are DQ’d if you touch the ground, the pass counts if the line is still standing.
* Not timed – Dead Stick Loops: There will be a 45 second climb from wheels up, when engine is confirmed dead, perform as many dead stick loops as you dare but (you must land and stop on the runway or risk losing the last completed loop). Completed loops score 5 points each, bonus points will add to the score if plane is stopped inside designated zones. (loop scoring will be discussed by CD before the event start)
* Timed event – Pony Express: Time starts when pilot gets first mail from CD, pilot then attaches the mail to plane and flies in race track pattern one lap around two pylons then lands and stops plane inside designated zone exchanges mail with CD and then performs two laps around the pylons then lands and exchanges mail with the CD then performs three laps and lands, pilot then lands and stops plane inside designated zone (engine must be dead before last mail is removed, time stopped when mail is given to CD. Lowest time wins.
* Not timed- Beads on a string: Most rolls in one straight pass. Callers will be set up at each end of the runway (to signal when to start and when to stop). This will give you 500' to perform your rolls.
* Timed event- Touch & Go: Time starts when the plane leaves the ground, you have 1:30 to perform as many touch and go’s as possible. Plane must touch in the landing zone for the pass to count.
