New Event – June 21 & 22, 2008
Mark your calendars!
The Niagara Regional Model Flying Club is proud to announce our first annual Scale/Jet Rally and Fun Fly. This 2 day event will be held at our new Walker’s Field with a 520’ long grass runway and clear approaches.
Invitations are open to all, especially large scale props & jets. We are an equal opportunity club so helis are also welcome! Flying will commence around 10:00am both days. Stick around Saturday evening for a Night Fly and bonfire.
Nik Rak and the crew from RCTV will be covering the event on the Saturday!
Some of the special events include a candy drop for the kids (this is a blast for the little ones) and shoot the Trainer with a laser tag gun where everyone will have an opportunity to purchase a limited amount of time to shoot at a passing trainer. The highest score wins a prize and bragging rights!
More information will be available as the date gets closer.
Please send an email to [email protected] indicating which day(s) you are planning to attend. Also provide your name and the size and type of models you intend to fly. This will help us plan the day so pilots will fly with similar aircraft.
Our field is located on the northeast corner of Thorold Townline Road & Uppers Lane in Niagara Falls, Ontario (the address for Google/Yahoo maps or Mapquest is 10035 Uppers Lane, Niagara Falls, ON). Access to parking is from Uppers Lane. We are just minutes from the Falls and Niagara’s Wine Country so when the flying is over take in the local tourist attractions and night life. And be sure to book your accommodations early!

OK folks, we have confirmed 4 jets, 15 large scale aerobatic planes, 6 large scale warbirds (come on guys you can do better!), a few helis, and 30-40 smaller misc. stuff. Hopefully Peter and Mike's A-10 will be on display.

The replies are pouring in now, thanks folks!
We have well over 100 aircraft committed. Keep 'em coming!
Some of the highlights:
1/3 Sopwith Pup (depending on wind conditions)
1/5 Bucher Jungmeister
1/4? Dragon Rapide scratchbuilt - static only, not quite finished
1/5 (or 1/6?) Waco scratchbuilt - static, not quite finished
Ziroli DC-3
Thanks everybody!
Just a reminder that there will be hamburgers, hotdogs and cotton candy for sale!

From the Club President:
"There will also be awards for best scale appearance and best scale flight in both jet and prop aircraft. The field and approaches are greatly improved from last year and the new pilot stations look excellent. I'm really looking forward to this event."

OUR FIELD IS NOW WHEELCHAIR FRIENDLY!
We have an asphalt path from the parking lot (handicap parking only on either side of the path) through part of the pits, to a pilot station and to the large wheelchair accessible port-a-potty.

What a weekend!
I've had a chance to get some feedback and it's all been amazing - from the pilots and the spectators, alike. Everyone I spoke to who flew loved the field. The spectators had a great time, the media was impressed (5 newspapers, 2 TV crews and one live radio broadcast!), the dignitaries and guests of honour were just blown away.
A special thank-you to all who worked really hard for the last few months - you know who you are and you are too many to mention - and to Roy Rymer, MAAC Middle Zone Director who made it feel like Christmas when he showed up with an SUV full of prizes, including a Plug-N-Play Twist 40!
I am incredibly proud of the men, women and families of the Niagara Region Model Flying Club. You all supported this event in different ways and it couldn't have been a success without you!
Thank-you,
Anthony
