The Newport News Park Radio Control Club will host an event in celebration of National Model Aviation Day on October 12, 2019, supporting the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) mission to promote development of model aviation as a recognized sport and worthwhile recreation activity. The AMA serves as the official national body for model aviation in the United States.

The public is invited to celebrate National Model Aviation Day with the members of the Newport News Park Radio Control Club at the NNPRCC Flying Field. During this event, NNPRCC members will be raffling off prizes to raise funds for the AMA Foundation.

Raffle tickets for the Grand Prize are available now up until the National Model Aviation Day celebration. Raffle tickets for Featured Prizes available exclusively during the event. You do not have to be present to win.

Activities:

Plenty of food - come hungry! (donations requested)
Aerobatic flight demonstrations! (fixed-wing aircraft and helicopter)
Watch pilots fly radio-controlled aircraft, learn about flying radio control and even fly one yourself! For a $1 donation, you can:
- Experience flight using a ‘buddy box’ with an expert pilot
- Try flying virtually using a flight simulator

Directions:

From I–64 WEST: Take exit 250B toward Yorktown. Turn left at light and then turn right at next light onto Ft Eustis Blvd. Go 1.7 miles and turn right onto Richneck Rd (636). Go approximately 4/10s of a mile crossing railroad tracks. Turn left into gate and follow road to field.
From I–64 EAST: Take Exit 250B toward Yorktown. Continue through the light onto Ft Eustis Blvd. Go 1.7 miles and turn right onto Richneck Rd (636). Go approximately 4/10s of a mile crossing railroad tracks. Turn left into gate and follow road to field.
From Route 17: Turn left or right depending on direction of travel onto Ft Eustis Blvd (Rt 105). Go approximately 1.8 miles and turn left onto Richneck Rd (636). Drive until crossing over railroad tracks. Field entrance will be on left.
